Ditch your job, book a ticket, get a tan, find love, never return. You don't have to do all of those things, but one you should do is pay for that ticket to Dongcheng. One of the many neighbourhoods of Beijing, it's a sensational base for exploring all that this city has to offer. With around 11,700,000 people calling the capital of China home, you're bound to meet some new BFFs while you're in town. Once you've hit Nanyuan Airport and collected your bags from the carousel, Dongcheng will be a drive of 16 kilometres to the north. From the centre of Beijing, it's 4 kilometres to the northeast.

With plenty of the city's leading attractions close by, Dongcheng is a wonderland for sightseers. From Tiananmen Square to Forbidden City, you aren't going to run out of things to keep you amused. Don't forget to put the Temple of Heaven and Beihai Park on your checklist too. For a better perspective of this lively city as a whole, spend some time in the close-by neighbourhoods of Zhangzizhonglu and Dongsi.

You'll never be without things to do in the heart of Beijing. The CCTV Headquarters and the Great Hall of the People will keep you entertained for hours. To get an even better feel for the area, also stop at the Lama Temple and the Tiananmen.
