Hotel review: Quay West Suites, Brisbane
Another trip to the Brisbane office, another chance to sample the local hotel scene.
I don’t know why, but I was expecting Quay West Suites Brisbane to be a pretty standard business hotel. But, as my taxi rolls up the driveway, surrounded by carefully manicured gardens, I’m happy to admit I got this one all wrong.
I’m greeted with a gorgeous, glam hotel with an understated elegance to it – think spacious foyer area with high ceilings, sandstone detail, classic light fittings and art.
The friendly staff make check-in a breeze and my expectations are exceeded again when I reach my suite on the 18th floor. It combines the best of hotel and apartment stays: there’s the luxe hotel touches (like room service etc) but the comfort and convenience of an apartment (well-equipped kitchen, spacious living area and laundry).
With many bars and restaurants a short walk away though, chances are you might not need to step foot in the kitchen 😉
Warm welcomes are hard to forget and this one takes the cake, so to speak!
It’s just what I need after an early start at the airport and a busy day at lastminute Brissie HQ.
After a good night’s sleep, I wake up to a sparkling Queensland day and check out the impressive view from the balcony. The Brisbane Botanic Garden across the road is another plus.
If I thought that view was picture perfect though, it has nothing on the pool. Let’s just say dragging myself away from here and into the office isn’t easy!

It’s not every Wednesday that I get to enjoy a hotel breakfast. With both al a carte and buffet options there’s something to suit everyone at the onsite McMahon’s restaurant (open from 6.30am to 10pm) and the park outlook makes you feel like you’re anywhere but a bustling capital city.

Whether you’re looking for a Brisbane hotel for business travel, a couple’s escape or a girl’s getaway, Quay West Suites ticks all the boxes. Next visit, I intend to spend some quality time in that pool!
