Nothing beats a weekend away to de-stress, detox and de-clutter after a busy week at work. The sleepy beach town of Kiama makes the perfect spot to do just this, no matter the season.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Saturday<\/h3>\n

11 am<\/strong> \u2013Start off the weekend by taking the hassle free option, catch the train to Kiama. About two and a half hours from Sydney\u2019s central station Mr LML and I take it easy and enjoy the lush landscape go whooshing by.
\n\"<\/a><\/p>\n

2 pm<\/strong> \u2013 Lunch time! Once you\u2019ve arrived in Kiama go for a stroll down Collins or Terralong street and you\u2019ll be spoilt for choice. My favourite is the fresh fish and chips from Saltwater caf\u00e9. Get them to takeaway and enjoy by the Harbourside (just watch out for those pesky seagulls).

4 pm<\/strong> \u2013 A visit to Kiama would be amiss without a visit to the blowhole and lighthouse. Make sure to take your camera and take some snaps as the crowd oohs and ahhs over the gushing water. For diehard blowhole fans there is also a little blowhole about 10 mins drive south.<\/p>\n\"<\/a>\n

5 pm<\/strong> \u2013 Time to check in. The Sebel Harbourside Kiama<\/a> makes the perfect home away from home for the weekend. The d\u00e9cor is modern and simple and the service is outstanding. The Deluxe Harbour room has a beautiful view looking out over the water and the iconic lighthouse. Spacious and contemporary, the room has all your mod cons and the extra bonus of a kitchenette.<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n

7 pm<\/strong> \u2013 Order room service. Nothing beats perfectly cooked food delivered right to your bedside (especially when from one of the best bistros in town). Blue Diamond\u2019s menu is perfectly crafted to suit your every whim; try the Roast beetroot, ricotta and marjoram ravioli with braised fennel cream, toasted almonds and shaved parmesan.<\/em><\/p>\n

Or if beef is your dish of choice try the 300g John Dee scotch fillet with roasted winter vegetables potato gratin and sweet port Bordelaise. <\/em>To top it all off you can\u2019t go past the Steamed sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce and hokey pokey ice cream. <\/em>Yum!

9 pm <\/strong>\u2013 An after dinner evening stroll in summer is all well and fine, but in the middle of winter stay under the covers and keep out of the cold with a movie on telly and a bottle of the local wine.<\/p>\n

Sunday<\/h3>\n

8.30 am <\/strong>\u2013 Rise and shine its continental brekkie time! Take the easy option and have brekkie at the hotel restaurant 1871. It\u2019s your usual bain-marie bacon and eggs, with fresh fruit and muesli for the more health conscious.

9.30 am<\/strong> \u2013 Check out the neighbouring towns with a day tour. Kiama Scenic Tours<\/a> has got to be the easiest way to get around the area, and having a driver means no one has to miss out on the fun at the local wineries! Not to mention getting shown all the top spots by a local guide.
\nBefore we know it Mr LML and I are spotting dairy cows and sheep on rolling green hills. There so much to see and do including the impressive Illawarra Fly<\/a> treetop walk, Saddleback mountain lookout, wine tasting at Two Figs winery<\/a> and more.

1 pm<\/strong> \u2013 Enjoy lunch amongst alpacas at Silos restaurant<\/a>. South of Kiama, Silos winery in Berry makes the perfect end to a picture perfect weekend.
