Prepare to be greeted with a relaxed festival atmosphere; baking sun, sparkling sea and dozens of islands within easy reach, each with their own personalities.Split is to be the final destination of our week-long stay in Croatia and after seven days of travel we are looking forward to some R&R. As soon as we enter the foyer of the beautiful Hotel Luxe<\/a> we know our wishes have been granted.<\/p>\n

Just a few minutes walk from the harbour, Diocletian\u2019s Palace and Bacvice Beach, the boutique hotel has a luxurious feel with stylish modern decor, spacious rooms and attentive, knowledgeable staff.<\/p>\n

Our room has an amazing view over the harbour and the balcony is perfect for a quiet drink at sunset watching the ships sail in and out of port.<\/p>\n

There’s plenty to see in and around Split. Here are my must-dos:<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1. Diocletian\u2019s Palace<\/strong>, one of the best-preserved Roman structures in the world.<\/p>\n

Wander the streets where thousands of tourists mix with the locals to shop and dine in the former emperor\u2019s holiday palace fronting the Adriatic.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n\"Ferry<\/a>\n

2. Take a ferry or hire a boat and head to the Island of Hvar.<\/strong> Sip a cocktail while taking in the sunset from the famous Hula Hula bar or taste the local wines, cheeses and olive oils at the UNESCO protected Ager Wine Fields.<\/p>\n

\"Spanjola<\/a>

Climb to the Spanjola (fortress) for the amazing view over Hvar.<\/p><\/div>\n

3. Visit the Blue and Green Caves on the Island of Vis<\/strong> and while you’re there check out the amazing Lola Konoba and Bar<\/a>. Located in a private terraced courtyard, serving delicious Mediterranean food \u2013 this restaurant really is a hidden gem.<\/p>\n\"Island<\/a>\n

4. Swim in the waterfalls at the beautiful Krka National Park<\/strong>, one of Croatia\u2019s great natural wonders \u2013 only 1.5 hours drive from Split.<\/p>\n

5. For the adventure seeker, head south to Makarska<\/strong> and go paragliding, scuba diving or white water rafting on the Cetina River.<\/p>\n

6. Visit the historic town of Trogir<\/strong>, a world heritage site on the Adriatic coast, perfect for a romantic escape 30mins from Split.<\/p>\n

7. Wander though Korcula Old town<\/strong>, legend has it Marco Polo was born here. Take in the scenery at Massimo, a cocktail bar in a turret \u2013 drinks are delivered by a pulley system.<\/p>\n

8. Hit up the Wellness Centre at Hotel Luxe<\/strong> for a bit of R&R after a full on time in Split. Laze in the spa or sauna and indulge in a full body massage after all your strenuous travel.<\/p>\n
