Like most Aussies, I have had my fair share of Gold Coast<\/a> holidays. Between a girls getaway; a week with Mr LML and our besties; a Dad and daughter trip to the Hinterland and *ahem* Schoolies\u2026 it\u2019s fair to say the GC has been home to plenty of travel memories.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nTo be completely honest, it was a conference for work that had me Surfers Paradise bound again rather than a grand desire to visit but I have to say, I\u2019m glad it did.\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

It turns out the Gold Coast still has plenty to offer the repeat visitor. So whether you think you\u2019ve experienced all the GC has to offer or you\u2019ve never been, here\u2019s why this Queensland destination should be on your summer travel radar.
\n10 reasons to visit the Gold Coast<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Flights are cheap<\/strong>
\nWe\u2019ve seen flights from Sydney to the Gold Coast for as little as $48 recently. Keep your eyes peeled for cheap flights to Coolangatta<\/a> and bag yourself a bargain.<\/p>\n

2. The accommodation is great (and there\u2019s plenty of it)<\/strong>
\nIf there\u2019s an Aussie destination built for visitors, it\u2019s the Gold Coast. With streets and streets of GC hotels<\/a> in close proximity to the beach, it\u2019s hard to pick a bad one!<\/p>\n

On my most recent visit I stayed at Mantra Sun City<\/a>. Its Aztec theme might be a little retro, but I say why not embrace the fun of it all.<\/p>\n\"Hotels<\/a>\n

My apartment was twice the size of my Sydney home \u2013 complete with two bedrooms, full kitchen, two bathrooms, a large living and dining area and laundry.
\nI love that so many hotels here have water views. At Sun City, I had a perfect ocean outlook, equally enjoyed from the living room courtesy of floor-to-ceiling windows or the balcony.<\/p>\n

Typical of many GC hotels, Sun City has great facilities including a pool area, gym, onsite restaurant and best of all, extremely friendly staff.<\/p>\n

3. That beach<\/strong>
\nSure a dip in the ocean at Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach is great, but even if you\u2019re not a water baby, there\u2019s something equally great about walking along the beach. Getting among the outdoorsy culture is a great way to start your day.<\/p>\n\"Beaches<\/a>\n

4. It\u2019s home to one of the best buffet breakfasts around<\/strong>
\nWhen lastminute lovely Mitzi describes the QT Gold Coast<\/a> breakfast buffet as ‘gasp-worthy<\/a>‘, you know it\u2019s a must do whether you\u2019re staying there or not.

5. It\u2019s the theme park capital of Oz<\/strong>
\nWhen it comes to entertaining the kids (or young at heart), you can\u2019t beat the Gold Coast for theme parks<\/a> action. Take your pick from Movie World, Sea World or Wet and Wild, or do them all with a Super Pass<\/a> that has unlimited entry for 28 days. Too easy!

\n6. Foodies will be in heaven<\/strong>
\nWhatever your tastebuds are craving, chances are the GC has it. lastminute lovely Kirsty was onto a good thing when she hit up Luke Mangans Salt Grill<\/a> at Hilton Surfers Paradise<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Slightly less fancy but also delicious, a trip to the GC isn\u2019t complete without fish and chips at a Surf Club. Northcliffe Surf Club is my pick.<\/p>\n\"Salt<\/a>\n

7. You can head for the hills<\/strong>
\nIf chaotic Cavill Avenue isn\u2019t your scene, don\u2019t forget the Gold Coast is more than just Surfers Paradise. 8. It\u2019s got that tradition of dinner and a show sorted<\/strong>
\nAway from the beach, Jupiters Hotel & Casino<\/a> is not only a great place to stay, but also home to many live-shows, giving you a good excuse to glam up and enjoy a night on the town.<\/p>\n\"Jupiters<\/a>\n

9. Whatever your taste or budget, there\u2019s a shopping option for you<\/strong>
\nWhen you\u2019ve had enough pool and beach time, hit up the shops around Cavill Ave or Broadbeach, or if you\u2019re really serious, head to Pacific Fair Shopping Centre. It has a mix of indoor and outdoor sections so you can still get your Vitamin D hit along with your retail hit.
\n10. You can\u2019t get bored<\/strong>
\nFrom wine tours<\/a> to ghost tours<\/a> and jet pack<\/a> adventures to jet boat rides<\/a>, the Gold Coast is the perfect spot for getting out of your comfort zone and trying something new.<\/p>\n
