When you\u2019re six months pregnant and have a toddler, simple things, once rudimentary, manage to slip from your short-term memory. A good night\u2019s sleep becomes a thing of the past, wining and dining is taken over by whining and din-dins and you can certainly forget all about Sunday morning sleep-ins.<\/p>\n

Suffice to say, there\u2019s a good chance you haven\u2019t put those feet up in a while (assuming they\u2019re still there since every time you look down these days, all you see is a basketball-sized tummy). So when this pregnant lady got wind of a relaxing weekend for two, the babysitter was booked and the bags were packed two months in advance.<\/p>\n

Anyone who knows Perth, knows the Swan River is very much at the heart of our city, and those who don\u2019t will be doing themselves a favour by finding out first hand. On any given day you\u2019ll find tourists, fitness fanatics and families all enjoying its splendour, and when the weather is particularly nice, its shores become a hive of activity that still manages to exude repose.<\/p>\n

Thanks to Captain Cook Cruises<\/a> we were given the opportunity to bask in the winter\u2019s sun, freshly ground coffee in hand, while cruising down the river From Perth to Fremantle. Let me tell you, there\u2019s nothing more enjoyable than a lazy day on the water, watching the world go by with chilled-out music to boot.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a bar available for those wanting to take relaxation to the next level, while the captain provides entertaining and informative commentary. Passengers have the opportunity to disembark at the opposite end of the journey to either immerse themselves in the bohemian atmosphere of Fremantle, or the laidback city lifestyle of Perth. Otherwise you can do what we did and enjoy the lunch cruise that returns you to your starting point with a very full tummy.<\/p>\n

And so it was with our very full tummies that we said good-bye Captain Cook Cruises and hello to our newly renovated Regency Club Suite at The Hyatt Regency<\/a>. It\u2019s clearly a brilliant choice for comfort, relaxation and rejuvenation if the calibre of the patrons surrounding us were anything to judge by (newly weds, an international soccer team and a best selling author). If you need any more convincing, the day spa, babysitting service, on demand movies and room service will make short work of that.<\/p>\n

Our personal favourite, however, was the Hyatt Regency Club, with eighth floor river views, where we enjoyed a steady stream of pre-dinner canap\u00e9s and drinks, as well as a delicious continental breakfast the next day.<\/p>\n

Dinner at the caf\u00e9 was a delight \u2013 the most delectable rack of lamb for me, while my partner Dave tucked into the infamous buffet \u2013 a visual feast in itself with three interactive cook stations including a mouth-watering dessert bar. After a perfect day of rest, much needed adult conversation and delicious food, the only thing left to do was to pass out from a food coma on the world\u2019s most comfortable bed and not wake up until *gasp* 9am Sunday morning. Divine!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s funny how life sweeps you up in all of its busyness and when you do finally get the chance to stop and enjoy the stillness, you wonder why you don\u2019t do it more often. Sometimes you just need a gentle reminder, so here it is\u2026what are you waiting for?
