I\u2019m going to let you in on a little secret. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lastminute.co.nz\/accommodation\/australia\/nsw-orange?social=blog:lmau:retail::SM189:\">Orange<\/a> is where it\u2019s at. Why? Read on to find out about some of the hidden gems tucked away in this unassuming Regional NSW town.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Patina Wines<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Blink and you\u2019ll miss it. Since then they\u2019ve worked hard to develop the property and Patina brand, with the wine now being stocked in top-tiered restaurants such as Aria in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lastminute.co.nz\/accommodation\/australia\/sydney?social=blog:lmau:retail::SM189:\">Sydney<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When I visit, the first thing I notice are the incredible gardens. At an altitude of over 1000 metres, the views stretch across the valley and beyond to the Central Ranges. This is because the grapes aren\u2019t exposed to warm temperatures, which effectively cooks them so that they need to be taken off the vines earlier. In cooler temps the grapes can stay on the vines longer, giving them more time to develop. Even without help, tasting is subjective and you can easily let the wines do the talking. We have a particular craving for a cheese plate to accompany our wine, but Philip Shaw currently only caters for wine tastings. It\u2019s already empty.<\/p>\n<p>Philip Shaw\u2019s cellar door is open from 11am to 5pm, 7 days a week.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Ross Hill Wines<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I hadn\u2019t heard of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rosshillwines.com.au\/?social=blog:lmau:retail::SM189:\">Ross Hill Wines<\/a> before visiting, which is both good and bad. This adds to the experience as it feels homely and welcoming, like visiting your Aunt and Uncle\u2019s farm. At the end it\u2019s a tough decision on what to purchase, but I take home two bottles of the Pinnacle Series Chardonnay.<\/p>\n<p>Ross Hill\u2019s cellar door is open from 10.30am to 5pm, 7 days a week.<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t have time to visit any more wineries, but that gives us a good excuse to come back again. On my list for next time are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canobolassmithwines.com.au\/?social=blog:lmau:retail::SM189:\">Canobolas~Smith<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.printhiewines.com.au\/?social=blog:lmau:retail::SM189:\">Printhie Wines<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swingingbridge.com.au\/?social=blog:lmau:retail::SM189:\">Swinging Bridge<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Not sure when to visit?
