Remarkable environment, great amenities, great dining experience and above all a level of service by friendly and intelligent staff that, to be honest, is by far the best I have experienced. I strongly recommend a stay at this hotel.

Beautiful peaceful location with excellent staff. Very small bedroom but numerous lounge areas which would make it very suitable for groups of family or friends. Paid for a mountain view but couldn't see them because trees obstructed the view. Guests should be aware that the property is about 15 kilometres before the town of Mantegias and is quite isolated.

We stayed in an apartment which was so cozy and featured many of the beautiful Burel textiles. Weather restricted our outdoor activities, but we hope to return to experience these. My husband enjoyed the pool. The common areas were decorated with ski / alpine items and books - very tasteful. The staff were excellent - very kind and accommodating. The food was good, though for the evening meal we would have preferred that the entree portions be larger since we didn't typically desire the appetizer included in the prix fixe menu. We did purchase a Burel blanket from the hotel, and I think if they had a few more patterns / styles available they would be able to sell quite a few.

Due to the pandemic I got an upgrade to Casa de São Lourenço that belongs to the same group. I have to say that the stay could not be better, the staff has wonderful, the rooms, the view, the restaurant, the breakfast all flawless. Definitely one of the best hotels I have ever been and for sure will return.

A worthwhile detour with magnificent views

This hotel is located at the top of a long, steep road (about a 20 min drive from town) , but well worth the detour. Located almost at the top of the mountain, the views are wonderful and the hotel is beautiful. Decorated in an elegant but relaxed "ski lodge" style, the rooms are clean comfortable and QUIET! The staff was very welcoming (especially Sandra) and the "vibe is relaxed. They offer welcome snacks in the afternoons and a complimentary pre-dinner cocktail while guests are enjoying some quiet time in the many relaxing community sitting areas. They offered a guided morning hike to see the surrounding areas and the magnificent views and you can have a tour of the Burell fabric factory down in town. Another worthwhile detour! Overall the welcoming staff, the delicious food and the beautiful views made for a wonderful getaway.

Good hotel in a scenic spot

The staff at the hotel were very nice, and the couple's massage we had was great. The room was consistently too hot and the bed wasn't very comfortable, but the view from the room was lovely. Breakfast and the afternoon snacks were very nice, and the chef catered to my dairy allergy really well for dinner.

Fantastic mountain lodge

Fantastic place to go for walks and drives in the Serra de Estrela. Hotel also runs the Burel factory and shop, which is a short drive away in Manteigas and well worth a visit and purchase!

Wonderful location, amazing hotel, staff was sick

This is an amazing spot high up in the mountains. We went there in September, not during ski season, so except for the hotel guests there was nobody in any of the nearby cottages, and it was really nice to take a short hike around the rocks and amazing views. The hotel itself is very beautiful. Lots of Nordic furniture and beautiful fabrics made in the nearby town. This place is owned by the people who own the Burel company. The food at both dinner, which you must pay for, and breakfast, which is included was VERY good. The only complaint was that one of workers at the desk, who also worked a waitress had a very bad cold. IF YOU ARE SICK PLEASE DONT COME TO WORK AND WAIT ON PEOPLE!!!

So incredibly wonderful.

Epic stay, never experienced better service--ever. The service was unbelievable, the food was unbelievable, every meal was a culinary masterpiece, the bikes were in great condition, location beautiful and remote. High quality establishment. The shortcomings were poor internet service, the sauna was constantly broken, and it is very very remote which was good but also bad at times.

Amazing mountain retreat

The design features are excellent, very nordic in style and the smell of the fresh mountain air and the wood is just delightful. The attention to detail and the way the staff take care of guests is second to none. Fabulous restaurant, if you stay here, definitely have the dinner. You won't regret it. It's a peaceful mountain sanctuary!
