Not clean/Stained linen
The two staff that manned the desk were very nice. However, when I discussed my concerns about the condition of the rooms, the only thing they could offer was changing rooms. The gentleman at the desk at 3:30 am said he would talk to the manager but I haven't heard from anyone.
The original room I was given had cobwebs so large on the walls around the bed, it was clear that the room had not been cleaned in quite sometime. The deadbolt did not work. There were white stains on the upholstery of the brown desk chair. The edges of the bed spread were frayed. There were sticky spots on the desk area and on the table next to the bed.
I was offered a different room so I took it. Little did I know the condition of the linens and bathroom.The sheet had an orange/reddish stain in the location of where an adult would be laying as if that was from bodily fluid or waste. Stained sheets should not be reused and should definitely not be left on a bed a person is paying to use. I tried using towels to lay on top of the sheets so that I could still get some rest and one of the towels had a brown stain on it. The toilet would not stop running even after jiggling the handle to make it stop. The tv wall mount was broken leaving the tv leaning forward and supported by the wall. It was a completely miserable experience. I decided I could not stay and chose to sleep in my car instead.
I understand that Microtel is a discount hotel, however, cleanliness should never be compromised.
