I’ve stayed here twice before. Once before COVID (2019) and the second time in 2025. I’ll admit the first time I stayed I had no issues but I was doing a lot of excursions and not at the resort 24/7. This second time around, I wanted a chill vacation where I could rot on the beach and I was able to get that but I noticed a lot more. The rooms are very outdated and are filled with ants. The food isn’t really bad but it’s not great either (even if you book at one of their restaurants). I did see a specific type of bug (I think y’all know what kind I'm talking about) that was crawling around in the buffet area. Overall I think it’s just a very outdated hotel (can’t even call it a resort because it’s so small) and I personally think that RIU should update this specific location. Most RIU branches are a hit or miss and this was a miss for me. However, I do want to mention that the staff is super friendly and accommodating which I really appreciate and they try to do a lot of day time activities to keep the energy up which I also like. If you’re looking for a place just to sleep and want to eat and drink anything and everything, this probably would be a great option. But if you want to stay on the resort property and rot on a beach (which I will also admit was beautiful and well kept) like me then I would say to look elsewhere.

The RIU is a beautiful older property on Paradise Island. Things we loved- The food overall was very good, both buffet and specialty restaurants. We had zero issues making reservations and did so the first night. The beach was a great location and beautiful water. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The pools were very nice and clean. You can be in downtown Nassau within 10 min-longer if you choose the ferry and have to wait. But it’s a great location and you can walk to the ferry from RIU. Things we did not love- Beach chairs and umbrellas are old. They need to be updated. As well as the towels used for the pool and beach. The beach “staff” are not helpful. They will not set up your chair, table, or umbrella for you. They will sit there and watch you struggle to do it. On the beach you will get hassled daily by locals selling EVERYTHING. From timeshare opportunities to wooden toys/beads/hair braiding, etc. They are friendly and will move along if you say no. But they will bother you all day. Also on the beach-the cruise ship ppl will utilize this beach-or the public one next to it-a lot. And there were a lot of them each day. The rooms desperately need to be updated. They are small and cheap looking. They look like a hotel room at best. The A/C, water, and toilets frequently have issues. They did fix those issues quickly. They also need more beer options. No USA beer.

My overall experience at Riu was great -it's a kind of bare bones type of resort that has a good pool and is steps from the beach and was beautiful. I went for a solo birthday trip and when I came back to the hotel from my excursion, they had decorated my room with balloons and confetti and brought me a cake that said happy birthday. It was such a thoughtful and amazing surprise. :D

From I first checked in and go to the room, I realized how dirty and disgusting it was i even go back to the front desk to report it, I have to use one of the towels from the bathroom to wipe down the furniture them before I started to unpack my luggage and also the furnitures is so old can’t believe a hotel like RIU will have those furniture in a hotel, the secure safe don’t work , bathroom doesn’t have a ceiling fan, walls are old, this place just not worth staying, Food is no good and all the alcohol mix have in too much sugar is really a waste of time staying here, I was trying to cut my trip short but couldn’t get a earlier flight out

Plenty of resturant to reserve and eat at. The Atlantic buffet was our personal favorite, we ended up there at least once a day. The staff was always ready to help. This was our first trip to the bahamas and everyone from the concierge to the waiter at lunch, helped us find incredible things to do

We went for a quick 3 day trip. In retrospect wish it was longer. Enjoyed the activities throughout the day and the night entertainment was good too. We’d def stay here again. The staff were all very pleasant and attentive.

We enjoyed the beautiful resort. The food was good and the staff was great. The housekeeping staff kept it very clean. The only thing that I didn’t like was the very loud music at the pool. I wish it was a little lower and a variety of music. Everything else was great.
