With a smile staff offered to book a cab and didn't mention minimum fares. When the cab arrived I was told the minimum fare was $40. As I was only going a couple of Kms so chose to walk. Frustrating. When asked where the nearest shops were, vague instructions were given. No map. Again with a smile as if the question was answered and their job was done. Upon arrival our booking was set up so that we could leave via key drop when we departed in the morning. When leaving staff insisted that we retrieve our key from the key drop, move to another service station and wait while they completed their departure admin. All staff I spoke with had English as a second language and were hard to understand. All were friendly and smiled a lot, though on balance they were unhelpful as they didn't provide correct information, enough details or the service that was promised

Hotel was fine for an airport stay although overpriced. Restaurant was not good. Crowded, slow service and food only fair. We made a reservation and asked for window table but were told not available as it was being saved for someone else! Did not make us feel very welcome

We spent one night at the Pullman Auckland Airport. It was conveniently situated right off the airport, and we could walk to it from the international arrival. Although it was a bit far from the city center, taking an Uber to the city was not an issue. There was a ride-share pickup location just aside from the airport, and we walked to meet the Uber driver there. The staff who checked us in were nice and polite. We didn't try their restaurant, but the food selection on the menu looked delicious. The amenities and room were nice, and the bed was comfortable. We will book the Pullman hotel again when we visit Auckland.

Very nice hotel just a stone’s throw (short walk) from the airport. Everyone was very friendly and efficient. Everything was clean. Bonus was they had some vegan food options (eg scrambled tofu at breakfast), which was appreciated and made us feel welcome.

Pullman Auckland Airport — Don’t Arrive Hungry

The Pullman is a modern deluxe-rated airport hotel, conveniently located steps away from the Auckland Airport International Terminal. QUESTION: What should any airport hotel be able to deliver, especially a deluxe hotel at the end of a long haul flight from most of the world’s population centers? ANSWER: A bed and a meal. After a 12 hour flight from Los Angeles I checked in at 8:00pm. I was greeted warmly at check-in, and encouraged to dine at the Pullman’s 9th floor restaurant, which closes at 10pm. At 8:30pm I went upstairs and asked for a table for one. The restaurant and bar looked about 60% full with many empty tables. The receptionist asked if I had a reservation. When I replied no, she said “We are fully booked.” Please come back at 9:30pm and we will try to seat you.” Given the visible availability of unoccupied tables, one can only conclude that management here plan for very limited business and staff the restaurant accordingly. If demand exceeds that estimate the customer is told “We are fully booked”. For any restaurant that is bad policy. For an airport hotel, especially a deluxe rated airport hotel, this is disgraceful. I fly all over the world regularly. In my 40 year experience, it is only in Australia and New Zealand that operate restaurants like this. No other developed countries deliver this kind of poor customer service at a major airport hotel. It’s also embarrassing for an Accor property, a French chain of normally fine hotels.
