As a solo traveler, I will probably use CitizenM again if I’m flying somewhere that’s expensive. Otherwise, I will probably use another option. Especially if the stay is longer than a weekend.
The hotel is very nice. It is clean, the staff is very helpful, and the technology-forward approach is very cool (but admittedly in an anti-social way). I stayed here because I have an inordinate fear of bed bugs, and I read the reviews that said CitizenM takes the necessary precautions, which I deeply appreciate. You can tell that the room is clean as a whistle the second you walk in.
I will say, I didn’t care about how tiny the room was, I actually kind of liked that it felt like a bedroom and I kind of wish my own bedroom could have a mounted tv like that, haha. However, I did not like that I didn’t have ready access to drinking water. I had to patronize the nearby CVS and 7/11 multiple times just to get new bottles (which I hate doing) because I didn’t think to bring my hydroflask. This goes hand-in-hand with my dislike of the lobby’s “CanteenM” idea, as I would far prefer a vending machine (or even as an addition would be just fine!).
Overall, I’m not complaining. I got sleep. It was clean. I took a shower. Ate food in my room. I even used the gym. Whole nine yards. I just wish there was just one or two QOL changes like adding a vending machine (it can be a hipster, healthy vending machine since that’s your aesthetic, but a vending machine nonetheless).
