Are you wondering where to head for your next getaway? Well, follow along and we’ll tell you why you should choose Beijing. Want a few reasons? Well, it’s close to the Great Wall of China. There’s a walled city that was once forbidden. And because it’s probably unlike any place you’ve ever been to before. Browse our amazing deals on Beijing packages, book one and go to the Far East as soon as possible.
The first thing you need to do is drop off your bags at your Beijing accommodation—you don’t want to lug around luggage all day. After that, make your way to the Forbidden City, where the political centre of Chinese government was based for 500 years. Be sure to take a walk through the Palace Museum, where historic pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties are on display. Remember, no touching.
After escaping the Forbidden City, make your way over to the Temple of Heaven. This medieval religious complex was visited many times by the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, so you know it’s important. Check out the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest, a wooden building held together without nails. Then head over to the Imperial Vault of Heaven. And if you see both of those, you’ve got to visit the Circular Mound Altar, which is lavishly adorned with dragon carvings.
Your plane ride to China will land at Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), 32 km from the central business district. From PEK you can take a taxi straight to any of the hotels in Beijing, or you can ride the Airport Express train to a number of downtown stations. If you prefer to take control of your getaway destiny, get a vehicle from lastminute.co.nz’s Beijing car hire options and speed away.
The second most populous city in the world can handle one more person for a little bit, don’t you think? Browse our unbelievable offers on Beijing hotels and mix in with the masses. And if you feel like spending a few days in a neon skyscraper-covered island in the South China Sea, check out our deals on accommodation in Hong Kong. Extend your holiday—you know you want to!
