I mean i get its 3 stars but in all honest thats generous. The bath was black the moulde was black. The carpet had dirty stains (dont take your shoes off) the side of the divan bed looked like a dog had cocked its leg up and urinated on it. The chair in the room was that stained i dont know what colour it was. The corridor smelt worse of cigarettes then an ashtray. The guy on reception was really nice but even he couldnt make up for the stay. If i had somewhere else to go i wouldnt have stayed simple as that.

Awful hylands hotel Coventry

It was absolutely terrible. The stairs were filthy. The whole place stunk of smoke. My tv didnt work. He spent 2 hours fixing it and still didnt work. Cigartte burns on the floor in the bathroom. Walls dirty. Decor broken. Electric wires not covered up. I have photos. I have complained i want my money back. Shower was running cold water i think you sholud take it off yiur site.

Not so great

I would say the free parking and the staff is the best bit about this hotel. To say the hotel is dated is an understatement. Rooms are shabby, one didn't have hot water. The old saying you get what you pay for lol, but here you didn't even get the 'get' lol.

The room was tatty, the bathroom was disgusting with stains on the floor, rusty pipes. I could not turn hot tap on in the shower. I complained but it was not attended to. Solved problem by getting a pair of grips from car and using that to turn tap on. I stayed 4 nights and the room was not serviced from my arrival until after my departure. I had to ask for fresh towels and a supply of Coffee milk and sugar EVERY day. The stool in the bedroom was very stained and unusable. I accept it was a budget priced hotel but had far more comfort, assistance and friendliness when I moved to a Days Inn for just £5 per night more. I was staying as a volunteer at the Commonwealth Games and as I was funding the accomodation myself, needed to use budget hotels. I will remember this stay for a very long time for all the wrong reasons.

Avoid

Absolute dump of a hotel very poor state of repair smelly rooms. Hot water tap was not working and the shower was not working and as we stayed 2 nights even after informing the staff they did nothing. Beds are very old and uncomfortable. After making a complaint that we had no shower for 2 days they said complain to hotels.com as it is nothing to do with them. Please avoid as it is uninhabitable, simply horrible.

Very run down hot tap did not work on sink. Cold tap was not properly function mean not possible to shower and as this leaked the rest was massive loss of water. Pi. Picture on wall had broken glass and was dangerous (room 69) didn't not

Boom boom shake the room

When booking budget hotels there are always risks. Saturday is definitely not recommended due to music night where it is blared out at excessive levels until 3am followed by screaming matches in street. My room was above the sound system not out of place at Glastonbury. Rooms basic but expected at such low price. Not sure what other nights are like but once hotel rates in Birmingham get back to normal rates after commonwealth games there are 100’s of other choices before this hotel. Definitely one to avoid unless homeless.

Horrible wouldn't recommend

Hotels.com should visit the hotel with a view to take it off there site. The hotel is disgusting and I won't let me worst emery stay there. Our room - Shower didn't work, kettle won't turn it self off, TV didn't work, mould throughout the room. Loud party downstairs until 2.30am then a fight broke out at 4.30am

Very dated and dirty. Corridors strewn with papers, grubby shower curtain, room dusty. One positive. Bedding clean and fresh. Basic cleanliness is important whether you pay low or high rate.

Nice stay option if your budget is low

Carpet on the galary was very dirty and smelly. Some peoples were smoking as well outside near the parking area (within premises). Washroom fittings were old and loosely fitted. Room was clean and bed was really comfortable.

Filthy...you get what you pay for

Only needed to get our head down for one night. The room was terrible! Rips and burns on carpets looks like it was decorated by a 3 year old! Opened the curtains and no exageration you couldnt see through the glass the windows were that dirty! The shower didnt work and there was mould all around the bath.The only plus side was that the bedding was clean would only stay there again if we were desperate.
