A plus is that it is convenient for downtown events. The room was small but comfortable. More of the bathroom space should have been put in the bedroom. The in room coffee is terrible. Replace with a name brand breakfast blend. There was no regular creamer for the coffee downstairs. The restaurant downstairs was shut down for dinner due to weather. We had to order in pizza. The elevators are in need of refurbishment and are too dark.

Hidden Gem

We were looking for a hotel at the last minute that was near the venue for our daughter's dance competition. We stumbled upon The Kelly and are so glad we did! Affordable, quaint area with unique shops and restaurants. The hotel was very nice. Our room seemed newly renovated. The only complaints we had were that parking wasn't free (but we found free parking on the street since it was the weekend), there was a little bit of someone's stay-put lipstick that stayed put on my juice glass at breakfast 😅, and the restaurant closed earlier than advertised on Google on Saturday evening, leaving us a little hungry going to bed. None of those things were deal breakers and we already booked it again for the next competition in April! Oh, and the old fashioned from the lobby bar was 👍👍

For the price and location this is an excellent choice for downtown Birmingham. Great location, staff very accommodating and knowledgeable- even though my room did not have heat (unit was down half way through stay) they quickly and efficiently switched me to another room. Very personable and friendly would definitely recommend if you don’t need a million different services!

Rooms and hallway smelled of smoke. I could not sleep and ended up checking out and did not stay. Wasted money. I mentioned this to the person at checkout but he did not seem concerned at all.
