The island Lindau, with its charming old town centre is a 20-minute (17.5 km) from Bregenz, across the German border, and St. Gallen in Switzerland can be reached by car in 40 minutes (38 km). The tiny nation of Liechtenstein is located a 50-minute drive (55 km) south of Bregenz.
