Nice stay spoilt by parking issue.
We booked our stay on Hotels…. Check-in was good at around midnight. We were directed to the car park which I noticed wasn’t cheap at £24 for 12 hours and £36 for 24 but also noticed a sign mentioning that hotel guests pay a reduced rate of £27 for 24hours if paid at the hotel.
We had no bill to pay as we prepaid with Hotels so deposited our key in the ‘express checkout’ box at around 11am and went for a walk leaving the car in the car park.
Two hours later we returned to the hotel to pay for parking only to be told that as we had already checked out the reduced fee didn’t apply …. So £36 for 15hours parking. The chap on the desk was insistent that we paid the full bill.
I had assumed we should pay a few minutes before leaving the car park ( as usual). At no point were we told otherwise, the sign didn’t say otherwise and as we prepaid for the hotel there was no need to ‘checkout’.
A petty issue (and belligerent checkout guy) that marred an otherwise nice stay.
