Clayton is a well established hotel in Bristol and it would have been an overall good stay eating except for the last day of my stay. As me and my wife were checking out we just wanted to get a last minute walk around of the surrounding town and nearby market. Upon our return to the hotel from our sightseeing to collect our luggage we were exhausted and hungry and brought a snack to eat in the lounge area of the hotel. After 5 minutes we were approached by a front desk male employee that we are not supposed to bring food and east in the lobby of the hotel. My thought initially is that this is unreasonable because we paid for 5 nights and we ordered food in hotel and ate in our rooms so why are we being told while leaving of this? However we got up and went outside of the hotel to find a place to eat. We saw a sitting area on the outside at the front going to side of the hotel that looks like a smoking area and we decided to just finish our food there. Suddenly as we enter the area to look where to sit the same front desk hotel staff was there and my wife asked if he was following us and if there was a problem outside. The hotel employee began to say “It is private property” and walk away. We were upset and humiliated. We decided to go back to the market and finish our meal. Then we return for our luggage we left with hotel reception after. First time at Clayton and got this not willing attitude by this creepy staff member made a bad taste in our mouth to not visit here again.
Lovely hotel in prime location, spotlessly clean room was very comfortable. Slight issue with electrics to bedside chargers sadly couldn’t be resolved but a minor irritation. Hotel very busy during our visit, all staff remained professional under pressure. Great
Great hotel with very easy access to the city.
Very quiet at night and also has a very impressive reception/bar area with lots of places to sit and relax with a drink.
Parking is discounted at two of the near by NCP if you get a ticket from reception.
Restaurant had a great selection for breakfast but can be very busy at peak times.
Not the hotels fault but they should know that the room we were allocated room 340 it was so noisy from the area outside, drinking and shouting going on to the early hours from revellers having a good time, I know this can’t be controlled big for info only.
There is also antisocial behaviour happening on the balcony below and we listened to a couple arguing over not having a score. I think if your paying good money for these rooms then you need to know.
Two nights for a short getaway. We've stayed in a few places in Bristol, but this was by far the nicest. Lovely vibe, great bar, comfortable beds, quiet, and the staff were fantastic - helpful, friendly and welcoming.
Calling the reception desk for toothpaste, I was requested to go downstairs to them and pick it up ... terrible service....and it takes me a very long walk to the lift every time. Not recommended. Breakfast very limited range of food. Coffee machine was cheap one.
Staff were really lovely and helpful especially the nice man and lady who helped check us in. Bedroom was really nice and so was the bathroom, breakfast had loads of options to choose from as well.
Nice size modern room even if it was just a standard double bed. Great location, nice lobby area.
Breakfast was carnage.. big queues for coffee and bacon etc. and so many people marching back and forth it was a very stressful environment to eat in.
Also they were overly keen to get you to check in online so they didn’t have to deal with you personally which didn’t come across well.
Pleasant room once we found it. We were not the only ones wandering around looking for their room. Better directions from reception and signage would be helpful. Not a great first impression. However, we enjoyed our stay. Comfortable bed , clean and great location
Great location, hotel immaculate clean, rooms were very spacious, beds so comfortable and breakfast was hot and plenty of choices, would highly recommend and would definitely stay again
