Great stay during hot air balloon fiesta

A pleasant one night stay in Bristol to see the hot air balloon fiesta. Used Tesco club card partner through hotels.com so that softened the price. I wouldn’t have paid £170 to stay for a night, but ballon fiesta is a busy time so guess it’s supply and demand. Staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. Beautiful building with lots of character. Comfortable bedroom. Good hearty breakfast in the morning. Off street parking from check in til 11am for £9 was very good value. Could extend till 13.00 for another £3. Great location for walking up to observatory and Clifton bridge. Would return if price were lower.

Breakfast

Everything was good except for breakfast. We had to decide what we wanted to have and the breakfast time on check-in which was a good idea in theory but on 2 of the 3 mornings we were 30 minutes waiting for breakfast and hollandaise on one of the mornings was very strange which was odd since the order was in from 2 days previous. The waitress was excellent but was under pressure.

Clean and good service

Very clean room and excellent service. The only let down was that the room did not have aircon although 2 fans were provided either side of the bed. Pillows could be thinner than provided. Beds were comfortable. Decor needs updating.

We love this hotel and have stayed before for a night out in Bristol. The only thing we would say was not perfect was at breakfast. There was only one waitress on a Saturday morning and it was busy at 9am. The breakfast was slow coming out. Maybe the kitchen was also understaffed. Otherwise all great!

Our stay was fine

Our stay was fine, but we had a thick winter duvet on our bed(we only realised when we got back late from supper) and we had a rotten nights sleep as, not surprisingly for mid July, was so hot. Pretty thoughtless of the hotel not to have changed the weight of the duvet.

Great place to stay in Bristol

Second stay in a couple of weeks. Very comfortable and easy parking. Managed to walk into the city centre - it’s quite a way and uphill on the way back. Sounds worse than it actually is.
