Until the 18th century Peak Forest was known as a local "Gretna Green" as the local vicar had the freedom to conduct marriage ceremonies. One of the deepest peak potholes, Eldon Hole lies close by and 4 miles away is Castleton village. Bakewell, Chatsworth House, Matlock Bath, with cable car, are all nearby. Golf and horse riding within 5 miles. Shop and restaurant 4 miles, pub 1 mile.
