Casa Carneirinho by Olá Madeira

Casa Carneirinho is a treasure chest of discoveries for all members of the family, with an excellent location along the oceanfront and with mountain views. She's a grand old lady, built in 1930, with many little nooks and alcoves to explore. There are antique and retro pieces to enjoy, and even an art room for creatives young and old! In addition to the 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, there are various seating areas around the home and a beautiful garden for outdoor meals. Casa Carneirinho is split over 3 levels; LEVEL 1: Kitchen and dining area (also with some sofa seating) and bathroom with shower, ideal for coming back from a swim in the ocean! The kitchen and dining room doors open directly onto the garden. LEVEL 2: 2 bedrooms (1 with ensuite bathroom), an additional bathroom, seating area, tiny bar under the stairs, and laundry room. Both bedrooms have sea views. LEVEL 3: 3 bedrooms (1 with ensuite bathroom), another bathroom, 2 additional seating alcoves, living room and art room. There is a wraparound balcony with mountain views, accessible from both the art room and one of the bedrooms. You will have full and exclusive use of the house. Paúl do Mar is situated in the west of the island about one hour drive from the capital Funchal. It's the perfect village to switch off, kick back and relax, and forget the hustle and bustle of the city. Apart from visiting the neighbouring villages, any sightseeing will require a fair amount of driving. The village has a population of 850 people although many of the men work away as fishermen. Inhabitants are 90% local, so it's not a bustling tourist hotspot, except for summer evenings when locals and tourists alike flock to Bar da Pedra for a drink and to watch the best sunsets on the island! We recommend stopping at a supermarket along the way, as there is only a small convenience store in the village. The closest supermarkets are Pingo Doce in Calheta and Continente in Ribeira Brava. There is a bakery van that passes through the village each morning. There is also a fruit and vegetable van that visits the village three times a week. By Portuguese law all accomodation providers are required to record some basic information about travellers and report these details to our border control (SEF). Therefore, we will need to request all guests' passport information (or EU IDs if applicable) before arrival please. AirBnb is aware of this legislation. We have the right to refuse entry if this information is not provided. Madeira has a subtropical climate and we are fortunate to be surrounded by an abundance of beautiful nature, an environment in which insects and our famous tiny lizards flourish. We conduct regular pest control but despite our best efforts, from time to time a stray bug or creature may wander inside, especially if doors or windows are left open.
