We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Sands! The property is exceptionally clean, with a beautiful and well-maintained beach that was a highlight of our trip. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always quick to respond to any request. Our suite felt more like a one-bedroom apartment, complete with a full kitchen, which made it perfect for a comfortable, extended stay. The amenities and activities offered were fantastic and kept us entertained throughout. While some parts of the unit are still awaiting full renovation—such as the older fridge and a bathtub with a few rust spots—it didn’t take away from the overall quality of our experience. If those items are renovated or if they have fully renovated suites, we will definitly return to this resort.

Honestly cant fathom why the reviews are so high for this place online. I would avoid it. Rooms are in bad need of updating, especially the bathrooms. Navigating the restaurants is beyond frustrating. They give timeshare owners priority for reservations, so literally every time we tried to make a reservation (always between 8 am and 9 am) we were told there was no availability. Finally had to threaten a conplaint higher up the chain to get into a restaurant and when we were there it wasn't even busy. The food was what you'd expect from an AI. Barely acceptable. Was successful getting reservations twice in a week's stay. We ended up going outside of the resort a couple times just so we weren't stuck with buffet food getting soggy in warmer trays every night. There are also surcharges for anything beyond nasty drip coffee, beer or watered down well drinks. All inclusive is definitely a misnomer. Likely to take up the issue with Holiday Inn who owns the resort, which we found out on arrival, and explains a lot. Was not worth the $700 a night we paid for our family of five. Housekeeping was consisent and the grounds were well maintained. Staff was friendly.

The all inclusive package at this resort is a C- at best. The draft beer is watered down & if you want any other Mexican beer its an upcharge in can or bottle. The mixed drinks are horrible as well, hardly any liquor. The food was C- at best as well. It got worse when Holiday Inn took over. Tried to Americanize it for profit.

The property was kept very clean and the service of the staff was very good. A drawback was having to switch rooms on Saturday for guests with a Saturday to Saturday booking.

Great resort, wonderful food. But! management needs to visit other 'all-inclusives' to see how it can be done better. The staff spend so much time filling out receipts for zero dollars, and then taking your room key for everything! Why. It's all inclusive, plus we all have arm bracelets on. Makes service slow as wait staff are filling out paper and taking keys that you have to then wait for. Spoils it a bit!

The food and the staff are amazing. The beach is one of the nicest beaches I’ve been to . It was nice relaxing stay. The only issue was no shows in the evening. It was extremely quiet , and other than the buffet . Not much was going on. I would highly recommend this resort. Just keep in mind there will be not much going on in the evenings.

I am a repeat guest at Royal Sands over past 23 years. Many things have changed but many things remain the same. So many long term staff, familiar faces year after year. Service is impeccable. The long hours by so many of the staff I believe is unnoticed by many guests. I was quite pleased with food options this year, alternating dinner menu and buffet - enjoyed every meal.

Food was really good, especially at Sideline Sports bar. Service was great. Resort staff was friendly greeting always with a smile. We also enjoyed the credits the resort gave us, buying souvenirs and sponsoring the Chichen Itza excursion. We really appreciate it, thank you Dylan. The only downside, at the excursion to Chichen Itza, if you go there as a first time, the store will sell you stuff at a very exaggerated price, helped by the guide of the tour who will make you believe you are buying original anf unique products, when in fact there were dozens of street vendors around the archeological site selling the same souvenirs at a far more convenient price. Overall it was a great experience!
