The hotel is old and tired, and really needs complete renovation. The carpets are threadbare, the bed sagged, the white plastic shower tap and extractor fan had gone yellow with age, the bathroom mirror was losing its silver backing, and the furniture was chipped and worn. There were no usable sockets near the bed - only old-style round pin lighting sockets.
On Saturday night you couldnt see the bar for all the dirty glasses, and tables were left uncleared for hours: just not enough staff to cope.
We ate in the restaurant on Saturday night: the food was ok, but somewhat uninspiring, and expensive for what it was.
Thirty years ago, this would have been a nice hotel, but it really needs a rethink.
