Great stay
We had a great overnight stay. We used the pool facilities. Everything was really good. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was so good to see where my dad, sister and brother were evacuated to from Glasgow when it was used as a school.
I felt the hotel was a bit tired especially the bathroom but didn’t detract from our stay.
The breakfast was perfect and the price we paid for the overnight stay was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend it.
The hotel staff were exceptionally polite and helpful. My husband has a dietary condition and the chef and staff went above and beyond to make him food that he could enjoy even though it wasn’t on the menu. The hotel staff went out of their way to be pleasant and make this an extremely enjoyable stay. Barry in the restaurant went above and beyond. He is an exceptional member of staff.

Great place for short break in Gatehouse
Beautiful building and grounds, staff professional and friendly. Was a very reasonable price for bed and breakfast however rooms and corridors are tired, but I expect there are rooms that cost more that had been refurbished. A property of this size and grandeur must cost a fortune to renovate.
Our stay was in mid-March and the hotel was very quiet at that time. Our room on the ground floor was very convenient for the hotel pool which had a hot tub and sauna. The pool water was a bit too cold but the hot tub and sauna were very good. There are walking trails and a small lake nearby which is great for birdwatching. Also views of a ruined castle within walking distance. Restaurant food was nicely presented.
Fabulous location. Lovely to walk round. Nice staff and good food. Next time we'll stay for longer than 2 nights.

Something a little bit different
Very grand hotel in a lovey setting. Bedrooms are very clean but rather old fashioned. Dinner was lovely, I found the food a breakfast limited.
Overall an enjoyable stay and would visit again if in the area
1 night stay as part of a longer holiday. Stayed previously at the Cally Palace and had a great stay.
The room was well appointed in a quiet area of the hotel and was very comfortable with views towards the woods at the rear of the hotel.
We had an evening meal which was very enjoyable, our table being close to an open log fire.
The hotel is located 5 minutes from the A75 but is far enough away that there is no noise from passing traffic.
The breakfast was good, there being plenty of choice and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and will return for future visits.
Very disappointed with this venue, we had picked this venue for a potential wedding venue for myself and my partner but numerous bad points has made our decision easy to write off this venue on our shortlist
Swimming pool was freezing, jacuzzi wasn’t in use and food was terrible for a fussy eater. Didn’t effect our stay as we enjoyed lovely walks around the grounds and some quiet time away. Rooms are terribly outdated and basic tv which had interference on most channels.

Good
Good hotel. Service staff are good. Hotel little dated and we had an issue with our room which they sorted in the end
We had a lovely stay at Cally Palace. Very close to Gatehouse of Fleet and near lots of great walks. The reception room and grounds were lovely - the bedroom and swimming pool area were a bit tired.
The food in the restaurant was fantastic and staff were great. We got a great deal so good value for money.
The deluxe room No 74 was disappointing as the size was very large but no thought has been given to layout of the available room. It would appear that the standard double would have exactly the same furniture and be much cosier so you have ended up spreading furniture around the room rather than see the space as an opportunity and create an attractive seating area.
TV screen was very small and some distance from the couch so comes back to point above.
There was no place within the shower to put soaps /shower bottles etc
The room was nice and warm and bed comfy and ensuite worked well
