We had an emergency & had to return to Australia. We spoke with Hotels.com & they assured us we should get a full refund even tho it was 6 days after the hotels date for full refund. Our other hotel booked fo 2 rooms for 3 nights in Banff did a full refund but this hotel chose to keep our money, $1641.00, & stick to their policy. Even after explaining the distress we were suffering they didn't care & refused to offer any refund. When we were sure we could continue our travel our companions tried to rebook the hotel but it was showing "sold out". They then had to book another hotel for 4 nights x 2 rooms. Very upset at their lack of care. We owned motels for over 20 years & we always tried to assist any guest whose travel plans were upset. We will never use hotels.com again after their not assisting us better.

Great location in the LL area. Hotel was spacious and had many amenities that we didn't use bc we were out maximizing hiking. Loved the morning breakfast, which had everything from continental usuals, waffle maker, eggs/meat/hashbrowns, cereal, coffee, etc. Great way to s start the day and included in the price. The room we stayed in was excellent and had a fridge, sitting area, and then the beds. Bathroom super clean. Staff very friendly. Water/coffee/tea there every morning in the main area and also they have cookies later in the day for those this may appeal to. Overall, beautiful place.

The people at the Mountaineer Lodge could not have been more friendly. That was the best part of staying here. But the free breakfast was the exact same thing every day. It was the same fried eggs and sausage for the full five days that we were here. We asked if they would be changing the menu at all and the response was That they would not be changing it. That was the biggest drawback! You’re looking forward to a variety of breakfast and the variety was just not there. Meanwhile, across the street, there was the lake Louise Inn that had a full breakfast buffet and menu ordering, which would really have added to the experience at the Mountaineer Lodge.

Our room was in the older wing of the hotel with appropriate modernization and updates. If you like trains, you might love this room; our entry door and window faced the train tracks which were (maybe) 90 feet away. There was no mention of this special feature of this room in advance. We found out when we first arrived at the room. Upon returning to the reception desk to request a different room we were informed nothing else was available. Breakfast was advertised as a full breakfast buffet but that is a stretch. It did the job, though, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Mountaineer lodge was perfect for what we wanted. They had a pretty decent breakfast buffet included in the mornings which was nice pre-hiking. The views from the hotel were very nice. Less to do in the town of Lake Louise but the hotel was awesome!
