Breakfast - only plain brown or white sliced bread, jam seemed to be apricot only, fresh food - satsuma on display was half rotten, tweed restaurant chairs - most in need to repair in some form or other. Lacked atmosphere. Tired looking. Frayed curtains in bedroom. No biscuits to go with tea/coffee. No bottled water. No shower cap or hair conditioner. ,
Lovely location, comfortable room and bed, lovely food and very attentive staff. Tasty breakfast with a beautiful view

Tired but good cooked breakfast, reasonable price
Had a deal to stay including breakfast. Location was ok and nice by the river. Quiet as in the countryside. Bathrooms could do with a better clean. Towels worn. Bed hard. However slept ok due to quiet.
Staff young and don't seem trained but what's new with that in the UK currently?! Difficult to get attention to order at breakfast. However eggs benedict and full breakfast both very good.
Ok for a reasonably priced break near Melrose and Abbotsford House. Right in the grounds of Dryburgh Abbey also.

The hotel is lovely although undergoing a little renovation. Great for walking and excellent breakfast. However the menu in the Bistro is limited with little for vegetarians and does not change.
The only downside to the stay was the shower. It was almost impossible to regulate the temperature and never able to get anything other than a lukewarm shower. It needs replaced with a modern shower. The staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful
Wonderful country setting on the River Tweed and right next door to the atmospheric abbey ruins. Good walks in the area. Nice for a romantic getaway. The breakfast rooms were traditionally elegant but the dining room lacked charm and ambience. The two should be reversed with a more upscale menu for dinner.
Hotel is in need of a good clean
£148 for one night stay was an insult
Stains on carpet and bedding
Very outdated and in need of TLC
Budget hotel at premium price
£50 Travelodge the night before and so much cleaner
