We have stayed here a few times which we have always enjoyed. This time not as much as we were allocated a room up 3 flights of very steep stairs. It was extremely noisy outside with pubgoers which I know is not the hotels fault who is walking past. It was mad Friday (at Christmas) so was extremely busy. The pressure on the shower was diabolical and was at best a trickle. The carpet in the bedroom was dirty and needs a good clean. We would stay again but prefer other rooms we have stayed in. All staff very pleasant and welcoming. Great location on the high street.
Great pub and hotel. Lovely room and staff very friendly. The Sunday roast was very nice. Location is excellent, right in the city centre.

Room was beautiful and spotless(room 3 four poster suite). Staff were superb, the pub is so cozy and welcoming! We will definitely be returning next time we visit Chester. We normally stay at the Grosvenor and I can honestly say that the Pied Bull is 10 times better. Loved it! Thanks
We didn’t the rate we paid was a ‘superior’ room one but for the location which was perfect. The pub itself was cosy and historic. The cleaning staff were lovely, the reception were courteous but the restaurant were so busy the food wasn’t up to standard when we used the restaurant during our first evening and we did not receive the 10% reduction on our food bill as we had been led to believe we would.
Overall it was a great place to use as a base for the centre of Chester!

Polite staff from check-in to check-out, a staff member showed me to my room and explained the keys and access points for after 9pm. The room was in the cottage’s past the enclosed beer garden. The room was clean and tidy, warm enough once the oil radiator was turned on and the bathroom was clean and a great size. The bed was comfortable and I can highly recommend the shower enclosure as it was very big and plenty of towels. There are hot drink facilities in the room and a small wardrobe with a hairdryer. I would recommend this place also for location as it is 2 minutes away from the Christmas markets and the cathedral is very close by along with the wall
A small double room that was clean and tidy and on the ground floor (room 22). Staff were always friendly and helpful. Noise from outside the room at 05.30, which was probably rubbish bins collection. Easy walking distance to shops, xmas market, restaurant's and bars. We parked our car in rhe New market hall car park which is a few minutes walk away, very convenient. The car park cost for two days was £33.00 which is expensive. Almost forgot to mention the great breakfast
The room was lovely and clean , very comfy bed . All the staff were very helpful and attentive . The breakfast was very tasty. Lovely atmosphere and decorated very festive
Clean room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly and efficient staff. One of the best pubs in Chester. Central location. Highly recommend.

We paid extra for a 4 poster room & were given a Brewers cottage room. The bed was uncomfortable & the room was really hot. The staff did not care when approached about our room being downgraded.
Superior room booked wasn’t value for money - due to a poor, unsupportive bed and insufficient bathroom towels for two guests in the room. Both were addressed by housekeeping and management when raised and alternative rooms for the booking were found.
Room spacious and spotless, staff great good amenities and location was perfect
Breakfast was one of the best I've had and service was great

Room was fine, but uncomfortable bed required a new mattress and extra pillows could have been made available.
Whoever was emptying glass bins late at night and then early morning bin collections could be more considerate, 6am a bit early for a wake up call.
Don’t expect a good night sleep.
Staff at bar, lounge were pleasant.
The hotel is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and most helpful, particularly when I became unwell in the dining room. We especially appreciated the kindness of the young lady who was serving at the bar.
We thoroughly highly recommend the hotel, and enjoyed its convenient position in the centre.
Characterful, clean room, walk in shower, comfy bed. Will return and stay there again. x
