Nearby Chesterfield is famous for its crooked spire and offering a large range of facilities including shops, restaurants, cafés, cinema, bowling, swimming, gyms and Walton golf club although private they do accept visitors. Oakleigh provides a great holiday base for discovering the many attractions and activities available in the Peak District. Within a 10 miles radius there is Chatsworth House, Bolsover Castle, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Matlock Bath with cable car to the heights of Abraham, Darley Dale steam railway and the Crich tramway museum to name but a few. A little further afield you will discover picturesque villages including Ashford-in-the-Water, Eyam plague village, Winster and Castleton with its caverns and castle and Buxton spa town.
There are many countryside walks and cycle routes that can be taken straight from the doorstep over the local hills and moors from this wonderful holiday accommodation at any time of the year.
