⭐️ Lake activities
Lake 12 is a real highlight for visitors and a lovely spot for an easy outing on foot. The Lodge at Lake 12 café sits right on the water, perfect for a coffee, cake or casual lunch with a view. It’s also home to The Real Outdoor Xperience, offering a whole host of activities from paddle boarding and canoeing to high ropes and raft building (seasonal and subject to conditions). The best bit is the walk there you can take a quieter back-route that follows the River Churn through the trees, so it feels like a proper little nature trail rather than a roadside stroll (around 10-15 mins). Please see The Real Outdoor Xperience website for prices and booking.

Lake 86 is also less than a 10 minute walk (just past the De Vere Hotel) and offers open water swimming as well as kayaking and paddle boarding.

If you have your own equipment, you can use Windrush lake (the lake at the front of the lodge) for paddle boarding and kayaking.

⭐️ Places to visit and eat (within walking distance)
Within a short, easy walk of Isis Lake you’re spoiled for choice for food and coffee. Wander over to the De Vere Cotswold Water Park Hotel for relaxed lakeside dining at The Old Boathouse or The Brasserie, both with lovely views across the water. A few minutes further brings you to The Gateway on Lake 6, ideal for a coffee stop or quick bite, plus Pizzeria 720 for wood-fired pizza by the lake, and there’s a nearby Cotswold Outdoor shop for any last-minute essentials.

For an extra-scenic stroll to Spring Lake, settle in at the Lakeside Brasserie for live sporting events, live music and an easy-going bite with a view.

⭐️ South Cerney
South Cerney is a lovely Cotswold Water Park village with a great choice of places to eat and drink close to Isis Lake. You’re less than 10 minutes by car, or around a 25 minute walk, to three traditional, cosy pubs that feel exactly like the Cotswolds you imagine, The Old George Inn, The Eliot Arms and The Royal Oak, and they’re dog friendly too. If you fancy an easy takeaway night, South Cerney Fish & Chips and South Cerney Tandoori are both in the village as well, perfect for a relaxed evening back at the lodge.

⭐️ Exploring the Cotswolds
It’s also a brilliant base for exploring the wider Cotswolds. You’re close to Cirencester for shops, restaurants and essentials, and within easy reach of some of the area’s most-loved villages including Bibury (Arlington Row - dubbed the prettiest village in England), Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Chipping Campden, Broadway and Painswick.

If you fancy going a bit further afield, Cheltenham is great for shopping, festivals and foodie spots, Bath makes a brilliant full-day trip for Roman history and Georgian architecture, Blenheim Palace is a standout for a grand day out, and fans of Clarkson’s Farm often like to pop to Diddly Squat Farm Shop.

Families often love a day out at Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens near Burford, around 40 to 45 minutes by car from Isis Lake. With wide open parkland, gardens and over 260 animal species, it’s a brilliant, easy-going visit that still feels spacious on busier days, and it’s open daily most of the year with seasonal hours.

⭐️ Drive times
Approximate drive times from Isis Lake: Cirencester 15 minutes, Bibury (Arlington Row) 16 minutes, Burford 27 minutes, Bourton-on-the-Water 25 minutes, Stow-on-the-Wold 29 minutes, Painswick 26 minutes, Moreton-in-Marsh 35 minutes, Chipping Campden 42 minutes, Broadway 44 minutes, and Cotswold Wildlife Park 41 minutes. Upper and Lower Slaughter are also very easy to add on once you’re in Bourton-on-the-Water, around 1.5 miles away.

For bigger day trips, allow roughly 34 mins to Cheltenham, get to Bath in 55 minutes, Blenheim Palace is approx 1 hour, and Diddly Squat Farm Shop is around 45–50 minutes by car (traffic depending).
