The Bluenose House offers an overwhelming panoramic view to the south of the sparkling sea and the offshore islands. Several generations, couples, water sports enthusiasts will enjoy the tranquility and the view of the protective islands. Not a single building or wind turbine disturbs the view of the landscape protection area.
A staircase leads from the Bluenose house directly to the private fine pebble beach on a small footbridge for the kayaks or to the sandy beach of the house Yellownose.
Both houses can be rented from June to December for approx. 165 euros per day with 4 people (max. 6) in the low season from approx. 110 euros, plus final cleaning and 15% tax. Both non-smoking houses are built according to European standards (additional 220V sockets) and biologically allergy-friendly.

We have traveled for years, sailed more than 10,000 miles from the Mediterranean through the Caribbean and Bermuda to our new home in Canada and saw beautiful islands along the way. But Cape Breton's natural unspoilt beauty has surpassed it all. In 15 years we have seen nothing more beautiful from water and land than this magical place. Hundreds of enthusiastic guest book entries document on our website that our guests also feel the incomparable specialty of this location. Since we immigrated in 2012, we can undertake sailing or fishing trips in your language and give the best tips if desired.
In Continental U. S. and Canada, Cape Breton was named the No. 1 top island in the renowned travel magazine “Travel & Leisure” in 2011, the third most beautiful island in the world and in 2014 one of the 10 most romantic islands in the world.
No house, no power line, nothing disturbs the breathtaking panoramic view from the Bluenose House. Occasionally, friendly lobster fishermen greet with an Irish, French accent and tell of their immigrant, sometimes German ancestors. Supermarkets and hospital can be reached in a few minutes. We like to go to the nearby wonderfully protected bays with our fishing boat and show our guests the magic of the forests and coasts from the sea, see eagles, seals, hummingbirds, often also whales, and enjoy the fish we have caught ourselves.

The light is more intense here than anywhere else in the world, the colors are more brilliant, you have to let Nova Scotia work its magic on you. The coasts are deeply cut with countless bays and fjords. The island of Cape Breton in the northeast with the Bras d`Or Lake (twice the size of Lake Constance) offers crystal-clear water and excellent fishing opportunities. People love their traditions. Scottish bagpipe or Irish fiddle music is played on every occasion. There are Scottish highland festivals and tap courses. The French Akadiers are happy about a "Bon Jour", but they all speak English.

Nova Scotia is different. Special, very lovable, wild and lovely at the same time. The landscape is often compared to the Scandinavian countries, slightly mountainous, green, crossed by lakes and large forest areas with elk, bear and lynx. Nova Scotia is on the same level as Bordeaux (45. Latitude), which probably explains the warm summers. The int. Airport Halifax is e.g. B. from Frankfurt with Condor in 6-7 hours directly and from there it goes on with intercity buses or rental cars 3 hours relaxed to the houses.
Make yourself comfortable in this vacation home, which features a fireplace. There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as barbecue grills.
Guests will find features like internet access, onsite parking, and a car charging station.

Very nice

The property was beautifully situated with a beautiful view of the water and within driving distance of Cabot Trail and Fort Louisbourg. The house contained totally everything we needed. The only criticisms are the taste of the water (there was a large bottle of pure water), the single shower (bit of an organization for 4 older adults), and the stairs to the beach (still storm damaged so the ladies were unable to get to the beach). Overall we had a wonderful stay. 👍👍 Also enjoyed the wood fireplace. 🔥 Thank you Bob!!

Great Place to get away from it all.

We had a great time. We loved the fact that it is so secluded. Great location. The house was clean and comfortable. Just know there is no TV so it's great to get away. The saltwater shower took a little getting use to, but it did the job. Nice hot water. The view from up the loft area was nice. We had a lot of foggy mornings, but the evening view was awesome.

Bob, I wanted to thank you for your hospitality. My family and I stayed at this house for 10 days. The place was very clean and communication with the manager was very easy. I have no complaints and would stay here again.

Cape Breton

Hurricane Fiona hit Cape Breton during our stay. Bob and his staff made sure that we were safe and had everything we needed, checking in with us several times. House was very nice, view was great, and we’d like to come again without a storm. We still had a great time. Highly recommend.

Lovely location

This was a great spot to relax and also to explore the lower part of Cape Breton. Bob suggested a great beach just up the road which we visited twice and also made a restaurant recommendation (we did not make it because the deck on the Bluenose was just too enticing around sunset). Very nice place to spend a week!

Restore, recharge in peace

What a stunning location. Morning coffee on the deck. Nighttime stargazing. The home is beautiful and well cared for. Highly recommend a visit to Point Michaud beach, but only if you can drag yourself away from the bliss that is the bluenose house.

Wonderful remote home

The property is very secluded and peaceful. The interior of the home is very beautiful. Accessing the home is slightly challenging due to the condition of the dirt road that goes to the property, but that certainly isn't the owner's fault.

Gem of a place!

This property was above and beyond. Robert the manager, was always available for questions and ideas, and happy to go out of his way to provide extra information. The house was "eat off the floor" immaculate and had everything and anything you could want or need. We had an amazing week here and would definitely return. This will be a tough act to follow in terms of everything. Robert, thank you for keeping such great care of this place.

Beautiful home right on the water

We had an amazing stay at Bob's Bluenose home. When we first arrived, we had a couple of questions, and Bob answered my email immediately. The home is stunning, had everything we needed, and was right on the water. Daily, we sat on the deck and simply enjoyed the view of the ocean, the birds, and the occasional seal. I have no complaints and would highly recommend this home to my friends and family.

Quiet in Paradise

My wife and I just finished a perfect week at the Bluenose House. The property more than meets our requirements for a waterfront experience. That is to say: a stunning view of the bay, a sturdily built and comfortable house with deck and windows oriented toward the water, peace and quiet, great swimming, and a very friendly and helpful owner! We hope this part of Cape Breton remains a well kept secret. Thank you Robert!

Lovely home with breathtakingly beautiful views

We rented the home to be close to our family for our week stay. It suited our needs perfectly and gave us a place to completely relax upon our daily returns. The home was very clean and comfortable. The listing is accurate, but the pictures don’t do justice to the real experience. The owner is very warm, friendly and helpful offering suggestions for nearby activities. We certainly will return. Thank you for allowing us to stay in our home.

Nice and well-equipped home

My family of 4 adults and a baby stayed at Bluenose for a total of 8 days. Our host was very helpful and quick to respond to questions. The home is comfortable for the 5 of us and the kitchen was well-equipped. We had a car so we were able to drive to nearby towns and beaches. Our only issue was with mosquitoes on the deck. They were vicious as soon as the sun sets. Otherwise we really enjoyed the evenings on the deck which had a spectacular view of the lake.

Wonderful and peaceful holiday

My family of four with two children under ten, had an incredible stay at the Bluenose. From the beginning, the owners were kind, thoughtful and accessible - answering questions and helping us shape our trip. The kids had an awesome time exploring the beach and navigating between low and high tides - everyone was delighted by the daily seal sightings! The cottage itself has everything you need - it was so dreamy to have coffee on the deck overlooking such beauty. The beach is a walk down a set of stairs, but you don't need to bring much down with you as you can easily zip back up and down for lunch and breaks. We spent hours down there just watching the ocean adventures. - You will thank yourself for packing water shoes - they helped, especially for our kids who had never been to an ocean before. The cottage is quiet and private and you can access the closest shops within 20 minutes. (Port Hawkesbury has several grocery stores etc..) We went on several day trips and found it a great landing point. I would like to suggest Iles Madame - which was a great day trip and only 15 minutes away - it also has a bakery and a fun radio station that we listened to at the cottage. The Bluenose will have a special place in my heart for a long time - I was so sad to leave. Enjoy!
