This hotel is so cute. We loved how the bathrooms were decorated with "books" to give it the feel of a library. We had lots of fun scanning all the titles and finding the upside down ones. The breakfast was lovely and the staff very friendly with multiple languages spoke (always impressive). Would definitely stay again.

Central thermostat made it hard to sleep

Nicely renovated property with pretty good breakfast. The main downside is that their thermostat is centrally controlled (to turn on for heat or for cooling), and when we went the evenings were turned on for heat. We prefer it cooler to sleep and it was only possible to open the windows, which meant a lot of noise given the hotel’s central location. The hotel is recommended otherwise, so if you’re not a light or particular sleeper it’s a good choice in Coimbra.

Hated leaving

Absolutely loved everything, but especially the staff. They all made us feel at home in Coimbra and treated us as guests rather than customers. The breakfast was excellent! We hope to come back soon and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel to our friends and family.

The decoration is unique, interesting and pretty. Room is clean. One bed in my room，but it's big enough to sleep two people. Just step out of the front door is a shopping street. It's also close to the university.

This was my first CBR property, but won’t be my last. The property was beautiful, unique and interesting. The staff was wonderful. The furnishings were comfortable and elegant. And…they serve cake! I’m a fan 😉

Excellent location with great views, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great breakfast and rooftop views. Very comfortable room and bed. I had read a lot of complaints about the pillows - we loved the memory foam pillows! As for the see through glass door shower and bathroom - not ideal but perfectly fine. It's separate from the bed area. Highly recommend this hotel

We loved our time in Coimbra. The hotel was quiet and a great jumping off point for exploring the streets, sites, and neighborhoods. There is no parking at the hotel but there was public parking nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and the roof and lounge comfortable l.

The pictures on Expedia don’t do this hotel justice; this was the most beautiful hotel I’ve stayed at so far in Europe. The walls are decorate with actual marble/stone engraved book covers. This place is designed to pay homage to the Joanina library in Coimbra and they did an amazing job. Everything was also very clean and the service was great, breakfast was also excellent and the view from the rooftop was incredible. Even though the hotel is centrally located it’s was very quiet in the room, we couldn’t hear anything in the room. If you are looking for unique and interesting stay in Coimbra I definitely recommend this hotel.

Exceptional!

As a frequent traveller I rarely find a property like the CBR Boutique that does just about everything right. I was in Coimbra for 3 nights and the staff was amazing! After checking in we were taken to the room so that we could be given a tour which was a great touch. The room we were in was beautiful with power black out blinds and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever had in a hotel stay with memory foam pillows too. Nice seating areas and extremely quiet. There were many other nice touches like sweets, coffee and tea in their breakfast room after breakfast hours and many tips about the city from the staff. The room also included a really nice breakfast buffet with very welcoming and pleasant staff. I wish I could have added on another night to my 3 night stay. When I go back to Coimbra this will be my "go to" hotel. I highly recommend it!
