Nice small hotel in a central area. Only issue is the street is closed to traffic. A lot of Constuction in the area makes things very confusing. After calling hotel, we figured how to drive down the pedestrian street to drop the bags. Not the hotel's fault.

Outstanding stay. The design and the book-themed decor are amazing. Beds are very comfortable and the staff is eager to help. The location at the very center of the old town and by the river is second to none. Overall a memorable stay.

Coimbra Intro

I really enjoyed staying at The CBR Boutique. The room was excellent, with a great view. The breakfast could be improved upon, but did include fruit and pastry. The location was lively and with many activities near by. Much thought had been put into the decor with built in closets, TVs, toilets separate from showers, book lined facilities, quiet space without intrusion .

Stunning property. The room was large with a nice view and blackout shades. The bathroom was marble, carved to look like book shelves filled with books. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast room on the top floor is light-filled and has a nice view. Highly recommend.

The decor is absolutely amazing with terrific views of the large square, either from room, 5th floor breakfast area or the penthouse deck. Complimentary snacks, coffee, tea were available at all hours. A very comfortable stay, within easy walking to everything. Only downside was our refrigerator was not working in our room. And parking can be difficult to be close by.

The hotel was beautiful and its decor which was linked to the library was amazing. Breakfast was wonderful, and we loved the rooftop and view . Each member of the staff was also extremely friendly and helpful! This was our favorite hotel in Portugal!

The hotel is simply beautiful, very nicely decorated and centrally located within walking distance to all sightseeing sites. Our room looked to the square with amazing view of the main square and the river. We learned that the hotel was renovated 4 yrs ago and lobby is very impressive with half million little mosaic squares that simulate the biblioteca Joanina. The breakfast was very complete and served on the roof top with outside and indoor sitting. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The staff and especially Mark were very friendly and accommodating. They kept our luggage when we arrived before the check in time so we could enjoy the town and after checkout as well. When we had two hours to kill before our train departure, we were still able to use the roof top. He also gave us great restaurant recommendations. The room walls and bathroom and showers and even the sink were decorated as we were in the library. Overall, we loved the hotel, the staff, the breakfast and location. You will not be disappointed!

We enjoyed our stay at CBR boutique hotel. The room was beautifully decorated on a book theme, even in the toilet and shower stall. Kudos to the cleaning staff as everywhere was spotless, especially with all the nooks and crannys present in the stone carved books. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the room very quiet at night, especially considering we were overlooking the suare. Marc on reception was very helpful and courteous. Unloading luggage was a challenge as we missed the small area we could park the car to unload, with construction going on in the street. So we carried on to the free carpark, directly across the bridge from the hotel, about a 5 minute walk. We were not crazy about the open bathroom with glass doors on the toilet. May feel awkward if sharing with friends. The hotel is in a great location, close to all areas of interest and we would definitely recommend it for a stay in Coimbra.

This hotel is so cute. We loved how the bathrooms were decorated with "books" to give it the feel of a library. We had lots of fun scanning all the titles and finding the upside down ones. The breakfast was lovely and the staff very friendly with multiple languages spoke (always impressive). Would definitely stay again.

Central thermostat made it hard to sleep

Nicely renovated property with pretty good breakfast. The main downside is that their thermostat is centrally controlled (to turn on for heat or for cooling), and when we went the evenings were turned on for heat. We prefer it cooler to sleep and it was only possible to open the windows, which meant a lot of noise given the hotel’s central location. The hotel is recommended otherwise, so if you’re not a light or particular sleeper it’s a good choice in Coimbra.

Absolutely loved everything, but especially the staff. They all made us feel at home in Coimbra and treated us as guests rather than customers. The breakfast was excellent! We hope to come back soon and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel to our friends and family.

The decoration is unique, interesting and pretty. Room is clean. One bed in my room，but it's big enough to sleep two people. Just step out of the front door is a shopping street. It's also close to the university.
