We've stayed at the hotel in the past and don't recall the general incompetence of the food and beverage staff. Totally clueless as to service, communication, and providing an appearance of actually working hard.
Back to the above shortly. On the good...the hotel is in decent shape - room was nice, quiet, and housekeeping service was attentive and responsive. Location was convenient as it was walking distance to Starbucks and other stores in the mall. Good walk options across the street on the U of I campus. And in terms of the restaurant food - the quality was VERY good.
Back to restaurant/bar service. Unbelievably bad. We sat at the bar on night one and the bartender was trying to hard to be cool. Game day so at first gave her a pass but after a few times looking for some positive interaction...gave up and just had fun with it. Our main food order was placed for at least 15 minutes before I asked if the chicken was about 2 inches thick - after a puzzled look from the bartender, I pointed out that at that thickness you could expect a 15 minute cook time. Otherwise...where is our food? She responded that it was really busy (wasn't) and there was a big table over there that was waiting on their food. The guy next to us got his food after being htere only 5 minutes. REALLY annoying. Just a bad attitude.
Had more detail but ran out of characters. Last point - same clueless attitude at breakfast an dinner night 2.
Need to fix it!
