Not the Hilton Experience I Expected

The overall quality of this Hilton felt noticeably below the brand’s usual standards—perhaps due to the building’s age. While the front desk staff provided friendly and efficient service, the housekeeping team seemed disengaged and robotic in their manner. The property could use a refresh to align with the modern Hilton experience.

Staff was awesome by providing restaurant recommendations and sites to visit. Very efficient check in. The elevator system is confusing. There are parking garage elevators and then there hotel floor elevators. I don’t believe the hotel floor elevators were clearly labeled. A couple of people, like myself, were confused.

The rooftop bar is a real gem! The food is delicious, whether you grab a bite from the bar or order room service. We stayed a floor below the bar, and it can get a bit loud on weekends. On the ground level, there's a huge lounge area, perfect for catching up on work and have meetings.

Koln trip

We stayed 3 nights in Koln to see the sights. The hotel is very closed to the Dom, shopping, the altstadt etc. Very good restaurant options nearby. Dominakaner bar on the corner was a very fun time drinking bier with the locals.

Hit and miss

Hotel was well located near train station and cathedral. Room was large and very clean. Breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, there were a few negatives. Firstly the air conditioning did not work, when we complained to staff they told us that by law they were unable to put on the air con until the summer, don’t think this appears to be the case after some research but rather a Hilton cost saving exercise. If this is the case then the hotel should make this clear and at least provide a fan which was not offered. Furthermore we were woken up at 11.30pm by reception ringing for a delivery order that was not for us. We were also woken several times in the night by loud people shouting on the street after a drunk night out. Not all of this was the hotel’s fault but the attitude from reception was just to apologise and shrug their shoulders. If Hilton want return customers they should empower their staff to actually care about the customer experience.
