The gal in the Oasis Shoppe told us about the planned power outage so we were able to plan ahead. So talk to the staff they are very helpful and friendly. The property is beautiful with lots to do. Food is pricey but excellent and the service is outstanding. The weather was delightful as expected for December in Death Valley, looking forward to a return visit when Scotty’s castle is open.

All staff members were very welcoming and competent. Free shuttle from Ranch to Inn was quick and made it easy to dine at that location. Ice cream shop was great. There are now more eating options at the Ranch then there used to be - Great.

Dirty coffee cups in our room. Yuk! Rude staff at check-in. (Someone named Shree-something) Grounds are very cute. Staff at Wild Rose were very nice. Food 2x more $ than it should be. The building/rooms are old, so noisy through walls, and things feel worn.

The property is beautiful aside from the beauty of the park around it. 99% of the staff was fantastic, friendly and welcoming. The person checking me in was not super friendly at all. Did his job but with absolutely no kindness or personality at all. At over $300/ night, some kindness seems a reasonable expectation. The pool is beyond compare, the room was clean and well equipped. Would definitely come back and hope for a nicer front desk staff member!

When we arrived they were experiencing a power outage. I completely understand that the outage was not their fault, but it was frustrating that they did not even try to message incoming guests to advise that the power would be out when they arrived, despite the fact that it had been out for several hours by the time we arrived. (Had we known, we would have planned things a little different to arrive during daylight instead of in the dark and then planned to go elsewhere for dinner instead of arriving with two hungry kids.) Then, the next day, when I went to shower in the afternoon, there was no hot water. I tried to call the front desk, but was routed to housekeeping. I explained the water issue and they advised that they would send someone to our room. No one came. After an hour, we left to Zabrinski Point and to have dinner, and then stopped by the front desk when we returned before going back to the room. The front desk had no record of me calling in. She apologized for the inconvenience and offered to provide a discount. However, she said that she would need to connect with Expedia in order to do so. I asked how Expedia would get in touch with her and she said that she would notate my reservation and that she works approx. from 3 to 11pm most days and would likely be the person to speak with Experian. However, in the end, Experian advised that the hotel never responded to their attempts to reach them and the discount was never processed.

The cottage we stayed in was adjoining another. They were adorable and in a good setting. We would have liked a cleaner rug/floor and furniture was dated Husband had a few cold showers, other than that bathroom was adequate, and clean. Laundry combo wash and dry in the room was a plus but should have instruction on it.

Location is perfect for Death Valley exploration. Ranch has great amenities like pool, store, etc Quaint rooms and lovely walking grounds. Truly a desert oasis.
