When we check in at around 3pm on Saturday our room wasnt vacuum. We rushed to have a shower and get ready for a funeral. While showering, a woman bang the door and called out that she needed to come do the vacuum. My husband called out to leave it we getting ready. Less than a minute a male voice knock loud and called out that he needed to come in to do the vacuum. We checked out on Tuesday morning, the vacuum havent done. I had to go and asked reception for a toilet paper roll as the cleaner didnt gave us a roll. When we show up for breakfast on Tuesday, the room was full. We still went in to grab some food then go into the bar area and eat there. The Maori mature lady told us that we cant have breakfast because its full. When i told her that we will take it out she then said ok. After getting our food, a couple finished and we sat down pushing their dirty plates aside. The Maori lady came and said, “oh, that table was supposed to be for other people but its ok you sit there and i will tell those people to wait in the foyer. We just ate and try to ignore her then she came back and ask, “is it ok for you guys to share the table with this couple? They were Maori couple. I said yes thats ok. Car parking was a problem every night. We end up park at a private car park next door and receptionist slide a note under our door at 1am to tell us about our car is parking on someone elses carpark.

Room was awful.. skirting boards have never been cleaned.. all needs re furnished.. bathroom sink has a crack.. shower curtain!!!!! No overhead light and a concrete ceiling with loads of cracks above the dirty windows. Floor you could stick too. Wouldn’t recommend at all.

We were very disappointed with our stay here . TV didn’t work at all . Wifi was terrible so couldn’t even use phones to chill out at night and watch a movie or scroll the internet . Just buffered all the time . Just had to sit there . Things like this should be checked and in working order before guests arrive . Something basic like a TV should be a no brainer. $25 a night for parking is quite a lot when you are already paying nearly $200 a night to stay . Breakfast used to be so nice here but very budget and poor quality now . This place used to be great and was known for its great buffet breakfast but very under whelming . The cleaners and waiting staff very nice and friendly but won’t be staying here again . Very disappointed with our stay here

The room was average, really needs an upgrade and could do with a thorough clean, the thick coat of dust behind the beds was disgusting. Also this is the third time we have stayed at the Kingsgate and I was very disappointed that they now charge $25 per day for car parking! The front reception staff on the evening weren’t very helpful.

The positives: Clean room with a great balcony and view. Friendly breakfast staff and good buffet. (fresh fruit would be nice though). Excellent location. The negatives: Super thin walls. We had neighbors that kept us until 2am with their loud voices accompanied by a group of 5 drunken, rowdy people who were in the adjacent front parking lot partying until 3 am. We called the front desk at 1am as well as again at 3am. Kim (front desk) said there was nothing she could do as it was a public area. Police should have been called. Or they should hire security. Front desk staff were professional, but certainly not friendly.
