What a gem of a place, The staff was so welcoming and accommodating, we had great conversations with them. The food is exceptional, and the Inn has History. We stayed 2 separate times in one week, we drove out of our way for the second stay. Can’t wait to return. Absolutely Loved it!!
We stayed a couple days at the Lucerne. It is a rustic quaint quiet hotel right next to a golf course. The room was large with a king size bed, refrigerator, fireplace, air conditioner, jet tub. I find that it was a very good deal for the money.. There is a bar and a restaurant at the hotel. The food was good. I would definitely stay here again and probably will in the future. It worked out good for us because we were traveling between Ellsworth and Bangor so it was convenient.
Hotel and surrounding area was beautiful. Staff was very nice - especially the young lady who checked us in. The only downfall is we stayed on the bottom floor and it was very noisy during the night with people upstairs. If you are a light sleeper, ask for an upper level room. All in all it was a great stay. Restaurant was amazing
I have stayed at the Lucerne Inn many, many times on my way to the Coast. The staff are ALWAYS helpful, polite and focused on the guest's comfort. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I had booked for Aug 5 arr-Aug 6 dep. When I got there I was told the booking was for Aug 4 arr-Aug 5 departure. Our 20th anniversary was today Aug 6. I knkow I had problems booking this stay as Expedia kept opening up Lucerne hotels in several different areas and always defaulting to Aug 4&5 days. I finally got logged in directly to the correct Lucerne hotel for Aug-5&6 dates. Don't know how the dates defaulted to the earlier dates but it resulted in me having to pay another $180 for the stay!
I had never stayed in such a unique historical property. The rooms were the largest of any hotel I have had, beds comfortable, clean, staff was friendly, mountains in the back of the property, even the soap smelled wonderful.

Disliked: Amenities
We had only one used roll of toilet paper and ran out in the morning. There was only one tissue in the Kleenex box and no more in any of the pantries/cabinets.
The rod that turns to rotate the Venetian blinds was missing (looked like it had been broken off) and so I had to turn the little nub by hand to close the blinds for privacy.
The property had a gigantic wooden deck chair for funny pictures. There was a foot stool in front of it obviously for people to climb onto the chair with. My active dad who is over 70 years old attempted to get up on the chair using the footstool, it was actually unstable and he fell and took a header. It was when I reported this to the office and got indifference and that it was our fault that put a sour taste in my mouth. The manager finally agreed to have a look and remove the makeshift stepping stool without any concern shown for my dad or apologies. It was this interaction that has changed my mind to not return to this inn in the future.
I can’t say enough about the chef though, he expertly cooked halibut, salmon, and scallops. The hollandaise sauce on the oysters Rockefeller was home made and the best hollandaise sauce I’ve had at a restaurant. Thank you!
I would return for supper, but not to stay.
Stayed for a few days and had a wonderful time. The history of the property was interesting and it was near enough to multiple places we wanted to visit on our trip! Will stay here again
Everybody was friendly and the inn was quiet and our dog was very welcomed. I wish there had been a refrigerator in the room and the bed was just a little bigger. It was tough to be comfortable with two people.
Other than those little things we really enjoyed our stay.
This historical property has it all. The tavern has great food and drink with a really friendly serving staff. My room was huge while being very reasonably priced for the area near Bar Harbor. The grounds are nice with beautiful views all around
booked this literally at the last minute as the other property that we had booked left us stranded ... Lucerne Inn has great customer service and the property was clean and well maintained. Front office and other employees were very nice. My only suggestion for improvement will be with the breakfast to include waffles or bread for vegetarian choices as the only option was packed meat sandwiches. They also had yogurt and fruits as well.
