About this property
Casa de las Latrinas Bajas, Baixo / bajo Guadiana
The "Casa de las Latrinas Baja" comes from the reconstruction of the existing ruins next to the old latrines of the mining village of Puerto de la Laja on the banks of the Guadiana River, declared a Site of Cultural Interest by the Junta de Andalucía in the category of Historic place. The house is on the ground floor of the new integrated building at the same height as the mining barracks.
The house is distributed in living room, dining room and kitchen in the same area, plus two separate bedrooms, with the bathroom between them. All rooms except the bathroom with glass roof are exterior, the main one has adjacent lights and cross ventilation and all enjoy stunning views of the river and the stream.
The wide and generous spaces and the simplicity of the materials used, the marble of the Roman quarry of Navahermosa for the floor, the aluminum carpentry and the chosen "white" color serve as background to the few furniture or objects chosen in a functional way without lose the rural character of the new home. Next to the entrance and balcony of the Guadiana river, there is an outdoor terrace with wooden floors and vines to refresh.
