Amazing, successful eco-friendly hotel

I had not realised in advance that it was a net carbon neutral hotel. I was absolutely amazed by all the design and actions that were at work to make this hotel eco-friendly. Brilliant - if this hotel can do it, so can most others! Elegant Skandi look to all the architecture, inside and out, all practical and with a purpose, but attractive also. Bed comfortable, bathroom great (shower excellent) and I was able to have fresh air through a filter panel in the window also. Room was reasonably priced. Dinner was good and priced OK. Continental breakfast was very nice; the cooked breakfast not so successful, and I think at £20 was overpriced. Otherwise all wonderful and a lovely surprise!

This hotel was fantastic. I have no faults at all besides the cost for parking. £15 a night for hotel guests I don’t think is reasonable. They should do a reduced rate for guests.

Issue with info transferred from Expedia to hotel. Overcharged for breakfast & parking. Refund in progress. Room very hot. Window had mesh over it so not great airflow & no AC. Small step up into bathroom. Tripped & went flying!

Comfiest bed every, car park rip off

Hotel was only 5 months old so really new & clean, restaurant staff needed some further training things didn’t seem to click, bed was the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in….car park £15 per night which I thought was a bit of a rip off as there is nowhere else to park its off the motorway!

quality without costing the earth

Booked this hotel as an overnight stop for its convenient location. However, it exceeded all our expectations Clean and quiet, helpful staff and the room was spacious and calm. Great night's rest in a comfortable bed with good pillows. Breakfast, in the morning was good quality and locally sourced. Quality balanced with ecology due to its carbon neutral operation. I will definitely be returning soon

Overnight stay for Powderham Castle Gig.

Overnight stay for a gig at Powderham Castle. Great hotel just off the motorway spotlessly clean, modern with super friendly staff. Rooms are lovely, functional and quiet. Spacious bathroom and wonderfully comfortable beds. Light and airy communal areas and a large outdoor seating area with table service for the bar/restaurant. Fab buffet breakfast too. Whilst I don’t think there’s much within walking distance it suited our needs perfectly and would 100% stay here again.

From the moment I arrived, everything was seamless. Check-in was quick and friendly, and the staff were warm, caring, and genuinely attentive — it made all the difference and set the tone for the rest of the stay. The room was spotless, genuinely the cleanest I’ve ever seen and beautifully presented with everything exactly where it should be. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, and I had the most restful, uninterrupted night’s sleep. I woke up feeling completely relaxed and refreshed. The hotel itself is stylish, peaceful, and clearly maintained with great care. Every detail, from the calming decor to the little thoughtful touches, made it feel like a home away from home. What really makes this place special is that it has found the perfect balance - a team of truly exceptional people, and a hotel that is immaculately run and presented. Both are so important to an excellent stay, but it’s rare to find them both done to such a high standard. Here, they’ve absolutely nailed it. I’ve stayed in many places, but this one really stands out for all the right reasons. It was perfect from start to finish. I’ll 100% be back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a top-class stay.
