Wonderful family stay!

The Fort Augustus Abbey is a great place for a family stay. The apartment was well equipped and comfortable. It was great having a full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and washer/dryer! The property was lovely, with plenty of activities for the whole family, and we enjoyed the town of Fort Augustus. A great place to stay with your family while exploring the Scottish Highlands!

Charming place

Very nice place to stay with a little supermarket within walking distant. Howeverdome of the matresses need to be replace. Lovely and warm pool available ( extra charge during Covid). There a charger for electric cars near by and the village car park where having some more installed.

Great base for exploring the Great Glen in a beautiful building

We enjoyed our time in this apartment. The building in which it is located is spectacular with a long history and has been converted very tastefully to flats. The ground are also great to explore. The location is ideal to explore the Great Glen area, with Inverness and Fort William both within easy driving distance. Very helpful staff from the management company who were very understanding when our arrival was delayed by 6 hours due to a traffic accident which blocked the road to Fort William.

Perfect location for this great apartment in stunning setting

Amazing apartment in stunning settings and perfect location to explore the the beautiful Scottish highlands. After a day exploring a very short walk took us to the picturesque village on the Caledonian canal with places to eat in or take away.

The Best of Loch Ness

Wonderful property. Unique, historic, beautiful, convenient and comfortable. We had a great time from having nightcaps at the Boathouse to the snooker games at the club. Good restaurants all within walking distance. A great value.

A week in Scotland

A great apartment which has everything we wanted and in a fantastic setting. The historic building has loads of character with lots of things for a family to do. Snooker and table tennis was a hit with both our kids and we enjoyed the pool and sauna. Fort Augustus is a jewel of a location on the edge of Loch Ness with walking around the Loch or along the canal and lots of pubs for eating and drinking. Overall thoroughly recommend.

A Lovely Place to Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the modern comfortable apartment within the lovely old abbey environment. The grounds are beautiful and the amenities fantastic. Nice to have a grocery store within walking distance for cooking in the apartment's well equipped kitchen. The stained glass windows and view of the abbey courtyard were a bonus. This is a good central location for day trips. Thanks for everything!

Exceeds expectations!

We loved staying here! The swimming pool, steam room, playground, and large chess set in a historic abbey on the banks of the Loch Ness was perfect for our family. We traveled with a 2 year old and an infant and felt like we were in a resort that was made for our family. We stayed here for a week but felt like we could have been here longer. I'd recommend this place to ANYONE who wanted to explore the Highlands from a central location.

Great Flat in Amazing Abbey on Loch Ness

This flat is very clean and comfortable and is in a stunning location. The abbey was such a fun place to stay. It had amazing views of Loch Ness, and Fort Augustus is a beautiful village. The Boathouse restaurant by the abbey was also delicious and conveniently located. We stayed here with four adults, and the flat had everything we needed. Someone met us at check-in to show us around the abbey and to our flat; everything was very smooth. We loved our stay and would definitely come back. Highly recommended for anyone planning a trip to Inverness.

Luxurious comfort in an amazing location

We had a wonderful 4 day stay and could not have enjoyed it more. Found just the right combination of relaxation and adventure, with hikes and a drive to the Isle of Skye. The apartment was very comfortable and had everything we needed for two adults and twin 10 year olds. A vacation they will not forget with beautiful pool, chess in the courtyard and amazing sites, The evening cruise on the Loch was an great. Highly recommend!

Perfect place to enjoy a stay in Scotland’s Highlands. Quaint little town in a beautiful setting.

Couldn’t have been more pleased with our choice to stay at Moat House 3 of the old abbey. The property was clean, comfortable and generally well maintained. Easy access to many special sights we visited during our 3 night stay. The indoor pool was AMAZING, far better than the online photos portray. The owner Mairi was very responsive and easy to work with as we prepared to arrive, and the property manager was waiting upon our arrival with keys and a walk through of the property. The setting of the property was picturesque, and we had very quick access to several great shops and restaurants nearby. Being situated on Loch Ness is about as good as it gets. I highly recommend this property to anyone traveling to Scotland, and I would definitely return here if my travels take me back to Scotland.

We had a few amazing days at the moat house apartment #3! The apartment was clean, well furnished, and the gentleman Mike who greeted us was kind and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this rental. The pool was beautiful and amazing. Thank you for letting us stay at your home!

A great place to stay!

This property offers a unique experience to stay in an circa1730s Abbey directly on the southern shores of Loch Ness. The apartment is modern and nicely done with everything you need to feel at home, and it has a view of the lovely Abbey courtyard. The views of Loch Ness from the back yard of the Abbey are stunning. Walking around the Abbey we felt like we were at Hogwarts! The owner is not local, but there is a central management company overseeing guests staying in the individually owned apartments, so check in, etc. is easily arranged. The owner is responsive and communicative. The Abbey is a short walk into the charming town with about half a dozen restaurants and pubs, plus some cool gift shops. The town has walking/hiking paths and is right on the Caledonian Canal, and it’s fun to watch the boats go through the locks. There is a bike/walking/hiking path along the canal. Bike rentals are available. We liked it so much that we canceled several planned day trips so that we could relax in the peace and beauty of Fort Augustus!

Great Location

Overall the property was great. It was enjoyable to be able to have an evening drink right on Loch Ness, and a real highlight staying in an Abbey. The apartment itself needs some attention and was slightly run down. Little things like the washing machine not working, cracks in crockery and the shower screen not closing easily. Great few nights in Scotland though.

Great place, great stay

We spent a wonderful and very relaxing week at the Moat House. The apartment is spacious and beautiful, the kitchen could be better equipped, but that was really just a small blemish. Fort Augustus was the ideal location for trips round Loch Ness and further north. The Abbey itself is very atmospheric and just a great place to stay and enjoy the surroundings. We'll be back.

Wunderschön!

Es war eine wunderschöner Aufenthalt in Fort Augustus und auch in der Abtei wie auch in der Ferienwohnung!!! Wir würden immer wieder hierher fahren!! Die Wohnung war toll ausgestattet, sehr sauber, und sehr gemütlich!! Die Abtei ist fast wie bei Harry Potter, wunderschön, unsere Ausblick aus den Fenstern einfach unglaublich schön! Alles genau wie beschrieben! Immer wieder gerne!! Auch Fort Augustus ist sehr schön, klein aber echt voll schön!

Top Wohnräume

Die Wohnung in der Kirche hat mehr zu bieten als man im ersten Moment denkt. Die Wohnung an sich sind sauber und gut ausgestattet. Die Zusatzaktivitäten, wie Pingpong, Tennis, Billiard, usw. runden das ganze Bild ab und machen es zu einem Ort den man nicht so schnell vergisst. Ein Geheimtipp von uns: das nahegelegene Restaurant Boatshouse ist sensationell und nur zu empfehlen. Im Grossen und Ganzen würde ich hier nochmals eine Woche wohnen. Ich sage es gerne nochmals, es ist nur zu empfehlen.
