This property offers a unique experience to stay in an circa1730s Abbey directly on the southern shores of Loch Ness. The apartment is modern and nicely done with everything you need to feel at home, and it has a view of the lovely Abbey courtyard. The views of Loch Ness from the back yard of the Abbey are stunning. Walking around the Abbey we felt like we were at Hogwarts!
The owner is not local, but there is a central management company overseeing guests staying in the individually owned apartments, so check in, etc. is easily arranged.
The owner is responsive and communicative.
The Abbey is a short walk into the charming town with about half a dozen restaurants and pubs, plus some cool gift shops. The town has walking/hiking paths and is right on the Caledonian Canal, and it’s fun to watch the boats go through the locks. There is a bike/walking/hiking path along the canal. Bike rentals are available.
We liked it so much that we canceled several planned day trips so that we could relax in the peace and beauty of Fort Augustus!
