We could not fault this delightful hotel. All the staff are friendly and helpful, and go the extra mile to make your stay special. The breakfast is delicious, the rooftop bar is charming and the overall atmosphere in this hotel is welcoming. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

The room breaches fire regulations as there is no window opening to the outside of the building, thus no escape route. On informing reception of this, and requesting another room, I was told the rooms are rented “short term” therefore it isn’t relevant. Another receptionist informed me that I wouldn’t be “jumping” out the window if there was a fire. I would however have a means of escape through a window with the aid of emergency services ether using a ladder or other high rise mechanical aid. I was offered another room at a so css as Lord discount of €30 per night, which I declined as it should have been provided at no extra cost. “Madeira” fire regulations clearly state that it is mandatory that there is a window opening to the outside for both general health & ventilation, as well as fire safety. The hotel should be shut immediately until this serious safety concern is resolved. In addition, the shower floods tge bedroom every time. The holder for the shower head was broken, water sprayed everywhere unless held manually. Although meant to be watertight from ceiling to floor, water flooded the bedroom floor, right out under the bed every time. On reporting this, the receptionist said she could leave extra towels in order for us( paying guests) to clean it up ourselves, a totally unacceptable suggestion for anyone, let alone a 4 star hotel.

Beautifully furnished boutique hotel with very helpful staff. Rooms are well maintained and kept clean. The hotel restaurant does some great menu items so worth a visit. Breakfast buffets are fine but probably not to everyone's tastes. Location is next to the cathedral so ideal for a city stay with a difference - Funchal is a super place to visit and we hit the Xmas illumination that is world famous.

A lovely hotel in a fairly busy area, close to the port, bus station, shops and restaurants. Room was clean, but quilt was super tucked in and had to be wrestled with to release and was heavy! Breakfast was fantastic and roof top bar had great views.

We stayed in what is called the Annex building a few doors down from the hotel. The Apt was lovely however the walls are paper thin and it felt like we had no privacy. You could hear every word the neighbours said and our last night we got almost no sleep as they kept us awake until 3:00 am! You could hear them out in the hallway and down the stairs! It wasn't that they were too loud just that the way the place was designed? Also communication was poor, we would go for a drink on rooftop only to find that the bar was closed or want to go to the restaurant but that was closed on that particular night. The view from the rooftop was amazing a really nice place to sit, the breakfast was great and maybe staying in the main building would have been ok but I wouldn't recommend the annex unless you don't have neighbours.

The staff was great but we did not receive an upgrade and the EUR 16 discount was only if you stayed for 4 nights. The room was a standard room without a proper door to the bathroom (glass and curtain) and no outdoor lights. Expedia over promise with their premium benefits but the only benefit was a free drink!

I cannot recommend the Se Boutique Hotel enough. The people who work there are super friendly and helpful, assusting us with booking day trips and activities and advising where i could dind sone superglue to repair my shoes. The rooftop bar is a chill place to have an evening drink and has a good view. Its in a good locatio, a 5 minute walk from the sea front and was quiet.

This hotel is in the perfect location in old town Funchal. Close to many restaurants cafe and the ocean promenade. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The bed was huge! And very comfortable. Spacious bathrooms. Very good water pressure in shower.At the time of booking it did state a city view(you pay a bit more) but really you have to stick your head out the window to get a view…. But it’s not really that important because it has a rooftop terrace with amazing views of Funchal and the ocean. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Decor very quirky and colourful. Would definitely stay there again!

This is such a unique beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly and super helpful. We used the private transfer service from and to the airport which we organised through the hotel and it really did make for a stress free arrival. We were checked in early, we had an annex room which was spacious and nicely decorated. Breakfast was lovely with good variety of food. The location is fabulous allowing us to walk to great restaurants and bars and all the sites. We recommend this hotel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Perfectly located in the city centre, everything is walkable, from shops to restaurants and main attractions. Staff were also very helpful with every questions I had and recommendations. The only downside is there’s no on-site parking, so I had to use a nearby parkade about a 10-minute walk away.

I enjoyed my stay at the SE Boutique Hotel. The rooftop bar is a highlight serving some great cocktails and the breakfast was consistently good. However there were some downsides - the local area is noisy late into the night and it was necessary to keep the room curtains closed for privacy as the room was directly overlooked from flats in the opposite streets. Some staff were friendly and helpful but some were not.
