Staff was friendly and accommodating. We came in very late and they made arrangements for us to get our room key quickly and without complications. The hotel is historic so it is not new but is well kept. The beach walk/ trail is fantastic with incredible views. Would recommend and would return.
We had a great stay one-night stay at the Gilleleje Badehotel just outside of the high season. Everything about the property feels premium. The room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. We opted to eat in the hotel dining room and the food prepared by Vik was exceptional. We’re talking perfectly seasoned and beautifully cooked European dishes with top-end restaurant presentation. The cost of the meal for two was equivalent to the board but was absolutely worth the price point. I couldn’t believe the whole service was produced by a single chef.
Brits be warned there are no kettles in the rooms. Instead the hotel lays on coffee and sweet treats for guests to enjoy every afternoon. (You can get hot water from the kitchen at any time though.)
The vibe at a badehotel (bathing hotel) is a cross between a BnB and a guesthouse. The average age skews slightly older but we enjoyed the more relaxed pace and communal atmosphere of the hotel. The sauna and steam room were an added bonus and the cosy lobby with log fire provided welcome respite from the rain.
All the staff were really welcoming and attentive. Natalie went the extra mile to make us feel welcomed, offering great chat and plenty of advice on travel around the Danish Riviera. We would definitely come back again.
Gilleleje Badehotel is one of the classic Danish seaside hotels dating from the end of the 19th Century, when the well situated started to spend their holidays away from the capital city. Gilleleje has an active port with both fishing vessels and leisure boats, and nice restaurants. There is a beautiful 1,5 km seaside walking path from the hotel to the port. We visited during winter and really appreciated our windy walks in the area.
Room in the annex was nice with comfy bed. Did not like the bathroom with the open shower, which floods the whole bathroom. Wifi very unstable and limited choice of TV channels. Breakfast was ok, but not that much choice.
No amenities in the room.
Plastic floor in the bathroom.
Our room was on the second floor (third floor in American standard), but no staff was helping the luggages.
Great view of the sea, but the windows were dirty.

Overpriced
Ok hotel but totally overpriced and service level is poor
Excellent hotel with very comfortable rooms with a view of Sweden from the balcony. The spa area is very clean and the eucalyptus in the steam room was very refreshing.
Seaside classic close but oh so far from Copenhagen.
We had a great couple of days kicking back in the spa and around the town of Gilleleje. This hotel is indeed a classic. It doesn't have all the toots and whistles but it is really nice if you are willing to roll with the atmoshere and relax. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and a sunset picnic on our room balcony the next including herring from the local boats in Gilleleje. Sea view room is worth asking for.
