Beautiful local getaway

The room was a very nice double queen suite. Modern aesthetic overall with a step down living room/office combo and a view of the river. The bed was comfortable, and we appreciated the bench at the end as a very functional seat. The large double sink bathroom with separate lavatory, had a nice size tub and separate standup shower. The only downside was the humidity on the same floor as the pool/spa.

The room itself was immaculate, spacious and modern enough. The staff were friendly and helpful. They parking was convenient and secure. The casino was a filthy, smoky mess. The "non smoking" section was a joke. Located about a ten minute walk from the entrance, in the top floor to the very back of one side, you have to walk through the entire smoking to get there. Once there, you find yourself in a completely open room, no doors, air curtains or even smoke eaters. The machines were ancient and only half worked. If you need a place to stay, good choice. If you want any kind of luxury experience in a casino floor go somewhere else.

1. It was not clearly stated that my children wouldn’t be able to swim. I booked this for my sons 8th birthday & all he wanted to do was swim & they have an amazing pool. I was forced to then book ANOTHER hotel just to swim. 2. I informed the front desk that I wanted to add my sister to the reservation so she could request a key to decorate for my son’s party. I wrote down her name as requested. When my sister arrived they refused to give her a key. I then had to call & go back & forth with an Ameristar rep. They entered the spelling of her name incorrectly
