When we arrived they only had one of rooms ready. They said it would be 15-20 minutes. Ok, no problem. An hour later we still didn’t have our second room even though many others checked in after us. They said they would call when the room was ready. Never got a call. When we went to the front desk they gave us our second room which wasn’t what we reserved.

A Gem in a Treasure Box

This was a last-minute decision to stay overnight in Idaho Falls, and it turned into a highlight of our 15 day trip. The hotel is sparkling new, and it is located just a few minutes away from the most beautiful walking/cycling trails, it is quiet, although also just minutes away from Walmart and other shops. Felt so safe, welcomed and comfortable.

I made a reservation online and was very happy to stay as I really like the My Place hotels. Upon arrival when I was checking in I was told I could not park my pickup truck and stock trailer in the adjacent field as it was not owned by the hotel. I asked if I could park along the street and was told the general manager was not agreeable to that space as they felt it was too close to a turn lane. I tried backing my rig into every place I was asked and it would not fit without blocking in other guest’s vehicles. When I asked for other options I was told I could park in a parking lot down the street but well out of view of the hotel and they could not guarantee I would not be ticketed or towed. I was really given no other options and when I asked to cancel my reservation I was told since I chose to make it through a third party company there was nothing they could do and I would need to contact the third party. I chatted with an agent through Hotels.com that was very nice and immediately sent a waiver/refund request but I have heard nothing since and my emails have gone in answered. I am not happy with this particular experience.

Toilet was not clean and I had to wipe some things off before I used it and that grossed me out so bad. There is also no hand soap in our bathroom so we have used the dish soap and our shampoo, conditioner, and body wash our completely empty. I never use that but my son would have and just knowing it isn’t being kept up makes me wonder what else is being missed. Everything else is good and no complaints with anything else.

I got to the hotel 20 minutes before check in which was at 3pm. I was told that I could check in early if I was a my hotel member. I told him I was not a member so he told me I could not check in until 3pm. He didn’t even offer me to become a member so I could check in 20 min ahead of time. He told me it was unfortunate that I had to wait 20 min till check in. He was no help what so ever. Heading to my room I walked down the hall way of my floor where it smelled like trash while a huge trash bin was sitting in the hall way extremely full. The hotel is next to the freeway & it’s very loud. The ice maker in the room goes all night so every hour you will hear that dump. Our room smelled like “dirty feet” come to find out it was the blanket that was on the bed so we moved that to the floor. They offered no hand soap at the sink in our room. I will not be coming back & I will not become a member. This hotel is not worth the 145$ I spent.

Could be better

My day was good. The hotel was comfortable. Unfortunately, though it had a kitchenette there was nothing usable in the kitchenette. No glasses. No plates. No silverware. When I went to the front desk, I had to buy a glass. And, they would not take cash, or charge to the room, you had to use a card. There were just several features that it seems like they were trying to save a dollar, but the dollar was at the sacrifice of a good easy stay. Life supposed to get easier not harder. My place hotel made my stay harder. I won’t be staying there again if I want an easy stay.
