Jacobite house had an excellent location but did not offer a comfortable enough room. A strong odor was in the stairwell and tiny spiders were found in the room. The sink in the bathroom was big enough for a small child but not for adults. The room was quiet but very cold in the morning.
Although our room wasn't overly big it was definitely well equipped (hairdryer, kettle etc), very comfortable and clean, as was the communal space with kitchen and living area.
Absolutely fantastic location, ideal for visiting pubs with lots of traditional music being played.
Will definitely be booking again!
This was not a manned hotel and relies on remote service. We arrived at the front door and I still had not.seen the login codes to the front door. We had luggage. We were on the street and it was threatening to rain.
I tried emailing. I tried to call. No response.
Luckily, I did find an email sent.earlier that I had.missed that had the.login code, so we got in.
I realize it was not manned. But there was no.means to.get in touch with anyone quickly.
I never got a call back or email in response to my frantic contact.
Also: I may have.missed it in the.documentation, but there is no elevator. We had to lug our heavy luggage up multiple flights of stairs. It would have been good for the hotel to call that out....
Room was clean and nice. Just getting there was unfortunate
The rooms at the Jacobite House are perfect sized for those travelling light. The room has plenty of storage and very modern facilities. The shared kitchen is fully equipped with stove, microwave, fridge, etc. Great for those travelling on a budget, or who want to meet other guests. The property is very close to the rail station and some excellent pubs!
Great hotel in a perfect location. Easy directions for entry. Room was spacious. Close to bars and restaurants which can be a little loud if noise bothers you. We would definitely stay again on our next trip.
The bed was full of hair and cobwebs on the ceilings. This was one of the most unclean properties I stayed at on this trip. A lot of potential with the right staff and cleaning.
I’m surprised Expedia doesn’t check the properties it deals with :-(
I have photos to prove too
A hotel where you let yourself in via keypad with zero human interaction (for good or bad.) The room was small and poorly furnished. The tiny bedside tables could have been much larger as there was room. The sink was almost unusable as a glass shelf blocked access. But the bed was very comfortable. Location was excellent within easy walk of shops and restaurants.
We love this place! It is cosy, comfortable, tasty, convenient location to city centre and train/ bus station!
There is a fully equipped kitchen for each floor, where we can cook some comfortable meals ourselves!
Highly recommended and look forward to visiting it next time if we visit the town!
Great location, easy to find, right in middle of town, short walk from train station, lots of stairs to climb. Comfortable room but strong smell from bathroom and noisy all night with birds on the roof.
Great location if you want easy access to bars and restaurants, but that is also why it is not a good location if you like quiet.
Room was functional with a comfortable bed, decent shower, and space to get organized.
We had a good one night stay here. The House is within a couple of blocks of both the bus and train stations. Just be aware that there is not an elevator; we dragged outer heavy bags up three flights. We were there in a beautiful summer Saturday night, so there was a lot of noise from parties down below; this is the only negative thing about this property and would likely not be as bad any other night of the week. There was a small well equipped kitchen on the third floor, but the second floor has a huge kitchen, sitting area and TV. We left our bags there for a couple of hours while we were out and about the next day. I would stay here again!

The location and room were wonderful, but the street is very noisy for trying to sleep.
