Located in the Shotgun Subdivision of Island Park, Fox Den is just 32 miles from Yellowstone’s West Entrance. The area is known for its abundant wildlife and proximity to outdoor activities like horseback riding at Eagle Ridge Ranch.

Guest Access:

Guests have access to the whole cabin EXCEPT for locked doors and closets.

The Neighborhood:

Yale Creek Subdivision

Getting Around:

Guests will need to make sure they have their own vehicle. Summer months are fine with a small car but four wheel drive is a must in the winter!

Other Things to Note:

What to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling? A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!

Great place to stay. I use a wheelchair and a walker. There were a few steps getting into the cabin, but with my son's help, I was able to get up and down the stairs without incident It would have been helpful if the railings were a little closer together, though. I had to stretch my arms to the max to reach them. The cabin was neat and clean and in very good condition. It was pretty close to Old Faithful, too. So overall, it was a WIN! I' recommend this cabin for a family or a group of friends. Can't comment on outside amenities, as we did not use them.

Great cabin for family

The main road to the cabin was being repaired so the drive there was very dusty and bumpy but that should be completed soon. Otherwise the cabin was awesome for my family of six. Very clean and quiet. About 30 min drive to West Yellowstone entrance. A number of restaurants, gas stations, and grocery stores along the way.

Comfy, cozy, and clean cabin! Nice place for the two of us and our two grandchildren (ages 12 & 14) Kitchen stocked with plenty of dishes, pots, pans. Lots of towels. Quiet neighborhood. Just wish it was a bit closer to Yellowstone National Park (40 minute drive)

Disappointed

Location was not ideal and beds were uncomfortable. Even though you pay a cleaning fee, you still had to strip the beds, wash and put up dishes and clean all cabinets. We’ve stayed in lots of rentals and this one we were ready to come home early.

Cute and Clean

Great cabin that was super clean. For me cleanliness makes for a great stay! Had all the kitchen utensils we needed to cook. Laundry soap provided. Plenty of towels and blankets for 2 families. Blow dryers provided. Plenty of parking. We had 2 trucks and 2 UTV trailers. Nice area. Mattresses could be improved for comfort, but other than that it was great! Queen bunks were a bonus. We would definitely come back!

Lovely Cabin, Very Comfy Stay

Fox Den cabin was wonderful, clean, well stocked and peaceful. Lots of space to spread out and sleep. We stayed for three nights and were able to have a campfire two of the nights. Not too far from the West Yellowstone entrance, I would stay again for sure!

Fantastic cabin, but poor communication with property managers

We were a group of three family members who rented a Fox Den Cabin in July 2023. Right off the bat, we had a problem opening the key lock box because of poor lighting around where it was located, The cabin managers had provided clear instructions though. When we were able to enter the cabin, everything was in excellent condition and well-stocked, except paper towels which were of poor quality. We had minor problems accessing the TV channels and getting the bathroom lights/exhaust to work. The cabin management says it offers after-hours customer service, but we had a hard time getting in touch with the two ladies who manage the cabins. It was a weekend and late in the evening. Once they did respond, their instructions were clear and helpful. I just wish they were more efficient in getting back to me. Another time, the key fell from the lock box and we didn't notice it. We were desperately looking for the key after returning from a long and tiring day at Yellowstone National Park. I reached out to the customer service ladies and pleaded for help as we were at our wit's end. They took their own cool time to get back to me. Once they did respond, they were helpful. Had they responded promptly, it would have saved us a lot of angst. All in all, the cabin was fantastic and impressive, but the customer service response time was poor. Also, the lighting around the lock box needs to be better so people, especially seniors, don't have to struggle to operate it.

Everything was as expected. Couple of suggestions. There were no instructions for the fireplace. We awakened to a fire in the morning. There were no curtains on the small rod above the king sized bed. We did however enjoy our stay and would stay here again.

2022 National Park getaway

National park getaway- My husband and I took a two week trip with my sister and aunt. We stayed in wonderful VRBO homes along the way visiting Jackson Hole, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and this home did not disappoint. It was close to where we were going and had everything we needed. With a short drive, we were able to enter Yellowstone through the west entrance. This is a cute little community and we had the best time! I highly recommend it and we will definitely be back in the future.

Great cabin, clean and quiet

Lots of room for families. Kitchen has all the necessary pots and pans but could use Tupperware, aluminum foil and plastic wrap. Bathrooms have great water pressure and hairdryers! Beds are HUGE and comfortable. Quiet town but a bit too far after a long day in Yellowstone, over 35 min which can seem forever when one is tired. However once at the cabin, it’s nice to be away from all the people. We enjoyed our visit very much. Tip: get gas in west Yellowstone, much cheaper than in Idaho.

The cabin was very nice; roomy, clean, updated. Two couples stayed 4 nights, it was a perfect place to relax and access Yellowstone. The only drawback was the second bedroom. The bunk beds are queen sized, but my wife and I weren’t comfortable sleeping against the wall.

Home away from home

The listing was exactly like it said. The cabin is just about 25 minutes from West Yellowstone. Once your in the park you're anywhere from 30 min-1 hour from popular sites. We visited Old Faithful, Mammoth, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Midway Geyser Basin and several other popular spots. The cabin was beautiful, it had a lovely gas fireplace, large table and a great kitchen. There was just three of us so there was plenty of room. The kitchen was well equipped, I was so happy that there was even a crock pot. The bedrooms were large and had great wi-fi connection. The master room could use a mattress topper (the mattress was a really firm) My daughter said her room was great. It would have been nice to have cable, we were there on a Sunday and Monday night and my husband is a big football fan, he wasn't able to access the channel (it required a password), he had to watch the games on my iPad, which was ok but the big tv would have been nicer. They did have a smart tv so you could access your Netflix account. : ) The local store aren't to overpriced, were from California so pricing was comparable, I heard negative reviews on costs of groceries. If your on more of a budget you may want to take some non-perishable snacks with you. The cabin had coffee (that was nice), cooking oil, and seasonings. During this time of year a lot of businesses were closed but we found a great restaurant in West Yellowstone called the Buffalo Bar. We also found a great drive up coffee house. The firepit was a nice add-on since the evenings were chilly. We would definitely stay here again if/when we visit Yellowstone an the Spring or Fall when more things are open. We really enjoyed the cabin.
