Emek Hotel allowed us to check in at 9:00 am which is amazing. My kids were awake every morning by 3:30 so we naturally had breakfast by 4:30 am and headed to the mosque for prayer. The location is ideal and close to many things, Hagia Sofia and Sultan Ahmet are a 13 minute walk, Yeni Dzamija is a 15 minute walk, a boat ride of the phosphorus is 13 minute walk, etc. In terms of the hotel, they have the cutest elevator. This is an older hotel and the rooms are not the biggest but it is still very comfortable. We had one queen size bed and two fulls along with 4 pieces of luggage in our room - it was a little snug. There was not a bath but the water pressure in the showers was amazing and was able to warm up to really hot water very fast. The sheets and the bed are so comfortable and snug- the quality of the bedding is amazing that my kids fell asleep every night in a matter of minutes. I don’t like my room cleaned everyday so I appreciated that the staff was not pushing their own agenda on cleaning my room but whenever I needed something, like towels or the room cleaned, I used google translate to ask and they did it right away. The thing I loved the most about this hotel is that is a family run business and it’s very close knit family. They are very attentive and caring for the people staying here and I am sure that such service is very hard to find in Istanbul! Thank you Emek Hotel for your hospitality!

Checked in was 9 am , i arrived at 5 pm , i have been waiting for one hour because they need to clean the room !!! Other people arrived after me in 30 min let them in straight away because they are local !!. Bad room one power point , tinny toilet hard to use , unfriendly receptionist, i asked him to change my room he didnt accept, Unfortunately its a bad experience .

I would choose this hotel every time if I we’re coming back to Istanbul! The location is perfect, walking distance from iconic places such as Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet mosque, the Basilica Cistern. It is close to tram, train, & bus services. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Their buffet breakfast was excellent. It was a fantastic experience😊

Sewage smell, polluted water, mosquitoes

One of the worst rooms I have ever booked. The room was infested with mosquitos - I killed between 3 and 6 per night, every night. I couldn't sleep. Even with all the windows closed and after killing all the mosquitoes in the room, new mosquitos kept spawning and disturbing me. The smell of sewage in the bathroom was the worst I have ever experienced, it was unbearable without a window open. The water from the cold tap was brown, i have never seen anything like it. The combination of dirty water, foul smell and the mosquito investation was evidence the building has severe waste disposal issues. The air conditioning was intentionally disabled in my room, the hotel manager was very rude telling me I can open the window if I am hot. He pointed to my invoice telling me I had paid a very cheap price so the air conditioning is "closed". He seemed irritated with me. The surrounding area is very noisy due to construction. I could not wait to leave this hotel.

I had a one small bed room with a shared bathroom. The breakfast was excellent every morning with tons of great options. Very easy to walk to from the subway and easy to get to the tourist attractions. I had my laundry done on the same street and there were restaurants in every direction. Well priced for what you get.

Worst hotel I have ever experienced got there was taken to a broom cupboard room no windows next to loud lift could not sleep. Next day moved to another room window that faced a brick wall no air conditioning 1 shared bathroom and toilet situated on 5th floor. Disgusting even the tap water smelt strange loud construction work. Staff say no to everything my worst experience I should have listened to the bad reviews it ruined my holiday. Could not get a coffee even though I said I would pay this was more like a prison do not book stay home or book somewhere else honest!

It was clean and the service was good. I booked a double bed and was allocated 2 single bed put together. I understan i booked in October 2022 and arrived on February 2023 when there was renovation work going on. It was stiil clean and very professional. I am pmanning to return in April 2023 again.
