Ideal position for the lakes . Beautiful garden , peaceful setting . Staff friendly . Food good . Needs refurbishing but that was reflected in the price . Would go back again .
A lovely old building in a beautiful setting with views of Derwentwater and the mountains. The staff very friendly and efficient. We have stayed here several times and will again in the future. The dog was welcome too!
Lovely looking Hotel on the outside but once inside it was very tired looking and in need of an overall refurbishment. Facilities very poor. The TV remote didn’t work and the shower was like going back to prehistoric times. Very poor water pressure. For a £100 plus per night it totally fell short of my high expectations when I booked it. Would not return again.
This was by far one of the worse hotels I have ever stayed at. The bedsheet was stained.
On check in it was obvious someone had been smoking in the reception.
The room was absolutely awful it was dirty in poor repair, struggled to lock the door.
The bathroom was outdated the ceiling paint was flaking off. I was not sure what was growing around the shower gel dispenser.
The breakfast was adequate.

Business trip
Nice hotel. Staff were really pleasant. Nice bar and garden.
Rooms ok. No problems. I would say decoration needed.
Down side. Restaurant was quite limited considering nothing around.
Set menu, cant eat in bar.
Generally no problems

Lovely scenery but tired hotel
Lovely hotel, very dated and needs a refurb but for hiking trip was value for money.
Beer garden was stunning and lots of grounds to walk over.

Lovely Stay In Keswick
It's a lovely hotel with excellent grounds to walk the dogs in.
Although it could do with a paint touch up in places and some TLC
The room we had was clean and the bed was comfy.
The service was good however they appeared to be short staffed. The young waitress in the dining room serving evening meal works really hard, and she's a credit to the hotel.
The food at both breakfast and in the evening was really nice.
We would return to this hotel again if staying over in Keswick.

Really enjoyed my stay, I felt at ease from the get go. Lovely location, beautiful scenery and would definitely return.
Very helpful staff on reception. Great evening meal. Lovely choice and fresh & hot. Excellent service too… Our room overlooked the lake and was fabulous…
Whilst the hotel is a little tired the staff
were not at all. They were great. A great place for walking around the lake .
Overall it was a pleasant stay, the staff were really welcoming and friendly. Great location.
Unfortunately no dinner service was available on the evening I arrived although I had requested this on my booking I wasn't informed until I arrived at the hotel.
I wasn't particularly impressed at having to pay for parking and the berries at breakfast were still frozen!
Other than than it was a really lovely stay, very dog friendly.
I don’t like leaving negative reviews - especially when the reception staff were so pleasant. But this place is desperately in need of a refurb & cleanup.
The room we had (a ‘deluxe’) was cheaply furnished in need of repairs & refurb (corroded bathroom mirror, light fitting hanging loose from ceiling, old sticker on the tiles, bath suite tired. The bathroom was warm - a bonus as the weather was cold.
The staircase hadn’t been vacuumed recently & carpets were sticky in places. There was a smell in most areas - hard to describe - not a clean smell.
Breakfast was ok & so was the dining room if you like care home chic.
I shall not return. This was not good value for money.

Clean and comfortable
Lovely location and good hotel. Rooms were clean and comfortable, hallways were very noisy/creeky and stairwells were dated. Good bar area and restaurant, with a very good breakfast. Unfortunately the evening meal service was not available, no prior notice was given of this and alternative plans had to be made.

Great value overnight stay
Managed to get access to our room early. Always a good sign. Hotel and rooms looked very tired. Need freshening up. However it was clean and the breakfast was great. Great value
We stayed for a night on the 6th of February 25. A nice welcome but I’d say that the hotel needs a little ‘love’ but it is currently getting upgraded so that may come. Our room was warm and the bed comfortable. Used the shower which also was good. Breakfast is self service and the food was warm and well presented. I would use the hotel again if I wanted a cheap place to stay. It is around a mile from Keswick and if you walk go the long way round because the quicker way is full of large puddles and can be a bit hazardous and you might need wellies !!
One more thing is that book your taxi from the hotel because there are very few if any taxis in Keswick.
The hotel is in need of a huge amount of tlc. A lot of time, effort and money would be required to sort this out.
It is very tired looking and the interior definitely needs, at the very minimum, a good coat of paint. The carpets looked as if they hadn't been hoovered in a long time, especially in the corridors.
Having said that, our bedroom and bathroom were okay. The bedding and towels were spotlessly clean and there was always plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very good.
However the television in our room was not working for the duration of our stay. The hotel staff were disappointingly not able to resolve this problem.
