Food and hotel were good. However, before Hurricane Melissa made landfall the storm surge was predicted to be 40 to 60 inches. The ROK is literally too close to the seas and I felt the need to leave the hotel sooner to be more inland for my safety. The ROK issued notification to all their guests that due to the impending hurricane and many flights being canceled, they said they would accommodate guests and not impose any penalties. Well, when I decided to check out a night sooner because of safety concerns due to a category 5 hurricane, the front desk staff said they still will charge me and he will talk to his manager and he will call me back. I reminded him of the letter delivered under my room door assuring guests of their commitment. It's 6 days now and still no call from the ROK. I will not stay there again because in a time of safety, they did not uphold their words.

Due to the Hurricane situation, it was impossible to stay at the Rok Hotel. As a local in Jamaica, I tried to reschedule, but the Hotel denied it, arguing that I had made the booking through Expedia. I had insurance, but the insurance does not cover if it was contracted the day the "storm" was announced, which was my case. Both Rok Hotel and Expedia have lost a valuable customer...
I enjoyed staying at ROK Hotel. It was next to the water, so you do have a nice breeze at night. There’s a local coffee shop and some dining options across the street. However, the hotel does have a cafe, full restaurant, and poolside restaurant as options for dining. The DJ’s played good music by the pool if you want to relax at hotel in a Friday or Saturday evening. Staff were nice and accommodating and the hotel is very clean. I even worked out at the fitness center and they have great equipment to get the job done. I will stay at ROK Hotel again when I book for Kingston.
While the hotel has nice art, a good pool area, and ok rooms, it is not really well maintained and the staff are lackadaisical at best. Our suite had a perpetual leak in the bathroom, broken chairs and curtains, the outlet for the coffee maker didn't work, and the ice machine on our floor didn't work. The bar food by the pool was not great and very expensive. The food at Palate was very nice and worth the cost. Excellent service there and tasty food. The breakfast which I thought was included cost $31 per person for a lame buffet. The front desk staff often weren't there or provided slow, no great service. They don't provide concierge services and the transportation company they contract with is more expensive than its worth. There was a good view of the ocean and it was nice to be close to the national gallery but otherwise the area around the hotel was very sad and rundown.
