I enjoyed our stay at this family owned place. We had a great meal in their dining room one evening and enjoyed their breakfast too. The room was comfortable with a nice view.

No complaints about our stay in this hotel. We got a free room upgrade which was nice, there was plenty of parking and the breakfast was lovely. The checkin desk was empty when we arrived and left, so we had to call a number. Part of the shower thermostat had fallen off in the bathroom and everything looked a little tired. Overall we slept well and would stay there again if ever passing through.

Most of this hotel looks like it was renovated, however we were in an old section and it felt very dated. Rest of hotel had a nice bar area, restaurant, and that felt cozy. Our room was just a bit lackluster.

It is worth staying east of Vik...

Hotel Laki is well located if you want to continue exploring beyond Vik, perhaps taking in Skaftafell and Jokulsarlon. In my opinion it doesn't merit the 8.8 rating it currently has on the platform, but if only management organised a couple of days' snagging the whole vibe could be lifted: why was the picture in my room hung crooked? Why was the light fitting not attached properly to the ceiling? Why was the cord shortened so amateurishly using a cable tie? It's a shame as the fitting itself was quite stylish, going well with the, I think, hand made copper hanging rack. There just seemed to be so many easy wins not being taken. Cleanliness throughout was good, but not outstanding. A long hair, not mine, on the towel; some price stickers, which a previous guest thoughtfully left on the wall under a shelf instead of in the bin, were missed at least twice (so far) by house-keeping. Breakfast was a good buffet spread, with some very impressive loaves featuring. The restaurant staff, and the restaurant in general, were a highlight of the property for me. The menu wasn't long, but the food was well cooked and well presented, with generous portions. I happily ate there both nights of my stay, and some of the attention to detail visible there would go a long way throughout the property.

Red alert weather conditions “quarantined” us for an extra day and we weren’t allowed to leave. Even though they lost power for several hours we found it a charming place to stay. Plenty of places to relax and the food was excellent. And they wisely kept the bar open in the dark. 😉

Stayed here with our toddler during our winter Iceland road trip. Check in was quick and easy. The restaurant was yummy. Free breakfast was much appreciated! The staff was very welcoming. Only issue is that the walls are thin. We heard a group outside late into the night. However, once we alerted hotel staff they promptly took care of it.

Excellent remote spot between Vik and Höfn.

This was a great pit stop for my south coast tour. Awesome employees and a delicious breakfast. This is in a great remote setting, though I was just passing thru, it would be an excellent spot for several nights. Highly recommended and would stay at again, thank you!

Hotel Laki was lovely. It offers a budget option in its older part of the hotel, which is a great idea if this is your second stop; it allows them to cater to different guests' budgets, and the newer rooms are more per night. We opted for the budget room type. Our room was older than the exterior suggested, though very well kept. The room was a good size, and the view from the room was lovely; we overlooked some smaller cabins. We had heavy snowfall overnight; however, we were warm and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, a buffet style that catered to many pallets; this allowed for a good start to the day before a long day of driving. The staff were friendly, and the other guests were primarily small groups from a wonderful mix of home countries. It was a lovely end to a day of driving, beds were very comfortable.

Great customer service from the Receptionist to the people in the dining area. Even though they're so busy they still take time to approached their guests to ask if everything is okay. I highly recommend this hotel.

Very nice hotel with big clean rooms and bathrooms. There was access to some sort of balcony which was shared with the rest of the rooms in the hallway. The beds were comfortable. There is a restaurant on the premises. The breakfast buffet which was included was extensive. Dinner was a la carte and delicious. The staff is attentive and friendly.

One the night we arrived a bus with around 50 students on a field trip arrived. They ran rampant around the complex. Several calls to the front desk did nothing. I guess it was just bad timing for us.

The food and drinks were exceptional! We enjoyed drinks at the bar and the lamb was simply exquisite! What was a turn off was how noisy some of the guests were. Understandably so it was a hotel, but the tourists and kids were not it, and some were impatient (upon check-in), a guest actually cut us off upon arrival and the receptionist did nothing about it.
