Wonderful

We had planned a stop enroute to the south of France. It was chosen as a country location that would be quiet. It satisfied that requirement. It was a little difficult to find as TomTom for some reason had it in the middle of Lapalisse. Once that was sorted it was easy.
Beautiful old water mill with new modern bedrooms added. Great welcome, nice room and bathroom and wonderful restaurant with personal service and imaginative food - especially the "after eight" pear dessert. We stayed one night and it was located off our main route North - but well worth the detour and an interesting area we would return to - just to stay at Moulin Marin again!!
This hotel was superb, in a lovely area and the staff were so friendly. The room was very clean and the decor very tastefully done. The meal in the evening was very good indeed, as was the breakfast in the morning. We will have no hesitation whatsoever in booking this hotel again in the future, when we are travelling from our apartment in Italy to friends of ours in France. on our way home.
The aim of staying at this hotel was to meet up with friends on our way to Italy for a sports tournament. They had chosen this hotel because of the apparently good restaurant. This proved to be a disaster. On arrival we were told that the restaurant was closed on Sunday evening (our evening there)! This was not shown on their website. Instead, we were 'recommended' to go to a restaurant some 3 km away. This turned out to be an enormous buffet place in a shopping and petrol area - where the local football team and its supporters were celebrating their win that day! It was awful! There was apparently no other restaurant in the area open on a Sunday evening. The hotel, apart from this, was fine - but since our main reason for going to this 'off the route' place was to eat in their restaurant, the stay there was totally unacceptable. The lady on duty apologised, but this did not make up for the failure to provide us with an evening meal in their restaurant.
Dommage !!!
